It could, but i would hope a new ciach that comes in will want to cater to mm, not have him change the way he plays. If hire a new hc and hes one of these egomaniacs that thinks players should fit his system, tgen we are screwed. We need a hc that adapts to his players.

I am not going to judge his mental mistakes this year. He's a rookie who's been out of football for 2 years coming into this season. He was never expected to be Amari Cooper when he was drafted.

I'll be more interested in seeing if he's making those same mental mistakes next season. With a full offseason and not having to worry about the draft for half the year, I expect the game to slow down for him and he should be able to play faster; letting his raw physical ability shine through.

If he does that, he could be unstoppable. Right now he looks overwhelmed about half the time, but just another year to get used to the NFL and get chemistry with Mariota could do wonders for him.

This. I just pray that Mariota is calling DGB every day this off-season to go play catch. If these two get a connection, it'll be a deadly duo. DGB just needs to continue to hit the gym, watch film, and work on the little stuff. Hopefully he got the rookie pains and rust off and will be ready for a breakout year next year... pretty solid chance he'll be starting day 1 in year 2 (atleast he should).

Right, his drops are mental drops, not ability drops. As long as he can compartmentalize those, and move past them, he'll be fine.

The play this weekend where he dropped a big 3rd down, and then came back and made a spectacular sideline catch was very impressive to me. Showed me that he has a short memory when it comes to mistakes.

Also seems like Mariota is an extremely positive influence on him, showing time after time that he has confidence to go back to him.

Not sure what play you're referring to with the Eagles but Mariota has thrown guys open in just about every game. And one thing to notice...and the Jets game is a good example...when we contested a ball going to a Jets WR, they caught most of them. When the Jets contested balls going to our guys, we didn't catch it a lot.

That's not to say Mariota doesn't miss some throws...all QB's do. But when Mariota hits a guy....like DGB on a 15-20yd dig route...they need to catch the ball!!! And BTW, that IS throwing him open as he threw the ball well before DGB's break!

Unfortunately, him not getting his head around quick enough keeps happening here and there. I remember him missing a slant on 3rd down in a game because he turned his head too late and the ball was litterally sailing right past him as he started to look back for the ball.

In general, if we were a winning team and fighting for the playoffs DGB would have a few package plays for him because he has a lot of issues to work on...lining up, running precise routes, getting his head around, knowing what route to run. But since we can't make the playoffs, he should get as many snaps as possible to get him the most experience he can get.

Some of these issues showed up in the Jets game when he dropped the ball, ran the wrong route in the end zone and was not ready for another pass thrown his way. But he's a rookie and hasn't played football for a year and a half so he just needs reps and reps and reps in this offense. With his size and speed and athletic ability, he CAN get open and he CAN make big plays. He just needs a lot more consistency. The good is his potential and that he's showed glimpses of it. The bad is...Hunter did the same his first year and where is he now....?
