Then why didn't he change his offense to suit DeMarco Murray? If he is so good at making adjustments why didn't he utilize his best RB? His offense got worse with "his guys" that should tell you everything you need to know about Chip Kelly.

Have you been reading anything that players are saying about him? I don't think I have heard one positive thing. That is not a good sign at all. The Eagles were on the verge on a playoff berth this year and they hated the coach. The players didn't like him when they were winning either! You can't have a lockeroom like that.

People want to compare him to Belichick, but even when players leave they have nothing but good things to say about him. That's the difference. Kelly isn't a good HC, he is very smart, and "innovative" if you want to call it that, but he can't run a team in the NFL. The players don't want to play for him, and you can't be successful that way. The players that played for him know more about Chip Kelly the coach than anyone, and if there are that many people who are against him, it's for a good reason. If one or 2 players don't like him that's different, but when it's almost the whole team? That's terrible.

    well said

you cant win if your players wont work for you

we saw that first hand with Whiz

you also cant be too nice either, Rex Ryan for example likes to shoot the sh*t with his guys and some say its cost him over the years

Todd Bowles in NY is the right kind of coach, thats what we need, this years version of Bowles. And IMO that could be Gase..

I disagree to some extent. Chip, like most good coaches is concerned about the culture of the team. DeSean and Shady questioned his methods and Shady was due a hefty cap # (11 mill plus if I recall). So he traded Shady for Kiko who had been an excellent Ilb. DeSean he got rid of because of the culture of the team. And Maclin wanted a fortune to be re-signed.

Chip, like Meyer, runs his conditioning and practices quite differently from most. Again, no one complains when you're winning!

Did Chip get rid of All American talent as a college coach because he didn't relate to them? Of course not. Silly.

Chip Kelly sucks, he'll ruin the titans and I'll find a new team if we hire him. We can lock and delete this thread now.

    Fake ass fan period.

I would still be a Titans fan if we rehired Whis. Real fans don't quit their teams.

To address your first point, there could be many reasons for not changing your entire scheme to fit one player. One, you have a bunch of other players that fit the system well, and making that change for one would hurt the others. But I think it is a misnomer that north south runners don't work in Kelly's system. Lagarrett Blount at Oregon was a north/south runner and he worked out just fine in that system--the system is not a "east/west" system. That is just silly. I am pretty sure that Chip thought Murray would fit quite well. But he didn't. Perhaps the zone read was something he had a hard time with. Perhaps he simply was not as explosive after 390 carries last year. Who knows, but it wasn't a scheme issue. And one more thing. Chip let McCoy go and brought in three backs for the same price. One reason he did this was because Murray had 390 carries the year before. He wanted Murray to carry less of a load, and Murray bitched about this.

As far as players not liking Chip, I am not sure what happened. I know some players have come out liking him--but not many. But he was loved by his players at Oregon. Maybe he took a different approach to pro players that didn't work. But the foolish conclusion is that because his first shot at working with pro-players didn't work he can't be a head coach in the NFL. I am telling that he can adjust his approach to players--this is something he can figure out and I am pretty sure he will figure it out. He has figured it out in the past at the college level and he can figure it out again. Most of his players say he is a genius offensively and totally innovative. This is something that is rare and incredibly valuable.

I would say pursue him, and make him address how he relates to players. What went wrong? What will he change going forward? If he can address this in an adequate, I would definitely give him a shot.
