Which is why he won't be doing After Earth 2.

Never saw After Earth but whatever. I know his kid was in it so that's a motivation - not that you need any other motivation not to do a Roland Emmerich movie other than the fact that they are all terrible films.

Speaking of After Earth. I watched a movie I haven't seen since I was a kid in 1985: The Quiet Earth. The movie takes place in New Zealand and is low budget as hell, but the plot was rather good.

I finally got around to watching Spring Breakers. Seems to be a film most people either love or hate. I definitely fell closer to the love side. Yes it had some issues (mainly I found the editing style overly stylized and annoying at times). But in a time where everyone is constantly complaining about rehashed material and blah blah this movie is certainly unique. As expected, James Franco's character stole the show.

Also watched The Drop with James Gandolfini and Tom Hardy. This was a definite slow burn type of film but I loved it. Hardy is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors.

I immediately became a Hardy fan boy after Inception.

That's dumb. After Earth is several years old... Independence Day 2 hasn't even come out yet. There was no conflict between the two.

One is a sequel to a bad movie and the other was an "original".

Can't blame him for trying the unknown.

Plus it was for his kid... for better or worse.

FINALLY saw Star Wars. While it was far from the greatest movie I've ever seen I'd say it did live up to the hype for the most part (at least as much as it possibly could). My main complaint was....

The main bad guy wasn't even remotely intimidating under the mask. He was just like some nerdy looking dude. Idk why but that kinda irked me.
