...people asking why are we interviewing "retreads"? Simple answer is Belichick, Carrol, Coughlin, Fox and even a guy named Don Shula. These are just a few examples of coaches who failed in their first coaching stints and excelled in their next. Fact is there are only a handful of people even qualified to become a head coach in the NFL, a small percentage of all the coaches in the NFL.
Personally I would love to see Jackson here but Mike Shula, Jim Schwartz and a couple of others would be fine as well... it's fine if they don't hire "your guy" and if history is any measure it won't matter who they pick. The front office is a mess.

Yes, this. I've also never seen more speculation by the media than I do now. I mean the stories and rumors by these "sports writers" might as well be from the dudes that call in on sports talk trash everyday.

Understandably, its tough because 12 teams are still playing, basically half the league, and a lot of the coaching candidates are from those teams, so it becomes a situation where it can't be a distraction. You have millions of ppl like "is Mike shula interviewing?" And he's got a team he's trying to win a superbowl with. So the media is trying to "stay involved " and keep people clicking dem links, and 90% of it is stupid, "ross worked with mularky in buffalo, it's pretty much a done deal" articles that have no input from anyone on the titans or representing those ppl

Not a single team that needed a GM or HC has hired one from outside the organization and people are bitching about us sitting on our hands.

    You mother****ers need to...

@RapSheet: #Dolphins are hiring #Bears OC Adam Gase as their head coach, source say. It’s happening. Finalizing the 5-year deal right now.

One! After I posted! THE WORLD IS ENDING!

1/7 of the head coaching vacancies have been filled by outside an outside hire. 0 of the GM vacancies have been filled by an outside hire.

What timetable is acceptable to people at this point?

Gase was widely considered one of the top 3 candidates.

How many teams that have vacancies have not interviewed coaches outside the organization?

Yeah I hope that is what going on (that they have their sights on Jackson or McDaniels). But even if that's the case it seems almost negligent to not at least interview Gase since he is so highly regarded as an offensive mind.

I wanted to bring in Gase for an opportunity to interview, but lets be honest, the 49ers interviewed him last year and decided to go with Jim Tomsula instead because Gase interviewed terribly. Miami hasn't made a good hire at HC since Jimmy Johnson, hell, maybe even Shula.

    I ain't worried.
