Just listened to some of the conference. Mr. Underwood was very arrogant i felt especially suggesting that the paying customer doesn't have any reason to question the process of the hirings

The ORG doesn't deserve all of you. They deserve to take a huge hit to their revenues for the way they have conducted their business. Even when suggesting Mike in his initial release has a long successful history in developing qb's. Today he could only name and basically apologized and he only works the biz side. Like I said, very arrogant.

He seems like he could be a good GM.

Doesn't matter though if the talent isn't going to be coached for ****.

Yeah he mentioned they need to love the game. Right behind faith and family on the priority list. That's important too. We need guys who enjoy the process and grind of being an athlete and the process it takes to be great.

Also if they love the game they will HATE losing. It will bother them so badly that they exhaust all options to get better. Unlike a lot of guys we have here. I think he will be good for our culture change.

Cautiously optimistic. Really liked what I heard today (especially at the end), but I am from Missouri (he needs to show me first).

    Pressers mean sweet FA.

What he does with the draft and free agents is what matters.

I agree to a point but I think coaching at the NFL level is bit overrated.

These guys will pick up a few things from coaches here and there but honestly most of them just get better from being around better players everyday.

Like when QB's talk about the speed of the game. Once they adjust to that its like they are a different player (the good ones) same with every other position.

I was fortunate enough to play college baseball and I can tell you I got better from just being around other college athletes. It's wasn't from anything a coach said or showed me, but just being around faster, stronger, smarter athletes.

Plus when you have a franchise QB you can be competitive even with a less than stellar HC. Peyton Manning comes to mind.

I think the NFL is more about creating effective gameplans and scheming around your best players. They will teach you some minut things to help along the way but for the most part the players are as coached up as they are going to get IMO.

    My impression of JR:

    Pros:
    1. Accountable
    2. Dedicated
    3. Genuine

    Cons:
    1. only moderately bright
    2. "yes" man
    3. naive and/or unpolished

He came across as a likable guy. But honestly, I see he was a good choice for our owners because he does not appear to be an independent thinker.

I think he excelled in systems that already had winning groundwork laid. I did not come away feeling confident he can develop or transform Titans personnel acquisition and development processes into upper level.

And I agree that closing speech was canned. He was looking down at his notes and furrowing his brow at the wrong cues.

I think it he was the best choice available.

You mean that long standing winning tradition he was a part of in Tampa Bay?

He was there 2 years and just grabbed a few guys. Not a lot of change most likely due to short time. I think he works best in systems that are already in place rather than having the capacity to "transform" a system as he would have to do here long term. I'd love to be wrong on that, but that was my impression as the thread topic requested.
