Uhh read your post. How you describe your line of reasoning is exactly what racism is.

I agree a player's favorite player does not define them as a person. And whether nor not some can clearly delineate why they like a player, all people IDENTIFY with preceding players and want to emulate them. I seriously doubt AW wants to emulate ALL aspects of Ray Lewis's life much the way many people here love Steve McNair the player.

Too many people inject race as an identifying concept. Most people don't care about race when responding to a player. It is about their performance and how they represent themselves with their behavior both with their play and the time between the whistles. Culture has something to do with how they represent themselves but not simply what race they are perse.

It would be nice if he was as talented as Ray Lewis... just minus the murder part and the overly religious fakeness.

Where am I putting down Williamson? I only said he wasn't a true Titans fan if he loved Ray Lewis. Imagine, as a fan of the Titans, watching our home playoff game in January of 2001 and also saying "I love Ray Lewis." It just doesn't work that way. He wasn't a true fan... Simple as that. And I don't care at all. I doubt any of our players were Titans fans. I just don't like that he said he was a Titans fan growing up and is now saying Ray Lewis was his favorite player. Nope. Can't have it both ways.

And you really need to stop with the race talk. You're making it worse as you go. You just said white people like Watt because he's white and black people like Ray Ray because he's black. Lol

I never said it was racist... I just hate when people bring race up for no reason these days. Like people who think Will Smith didn't get nominated because he's black. I mean really?... No, it's because that movie is sh*t and his accent was not the least bit believable... and he's never in good movies.

    But anyways...

I hate the Ravens? What gave it away?

He brought race into it, not because he's racist... but because you are!

I don't think it is unreasonable to think that a young black boy might be more inspired by someone of the same race.

LOL. Not a racist, but I clearly used the wrong words and dug myself a hole.

I do believe that people, especially athletes, look up to guys of similar color as inspiration. Thats all I was getting at. My words gave off a different vibe.

I never meant to label you as a racist. That was not my intention.

I figured you worded it wrong and whatnot... My point was, racist or not, people like to jump on the race train these days and assume it's a factor... Like the people who say "I see no color" or "I'm colorblind" No... They're full of sh*t and want to sound like a perfect person.

I am absolutely positive there are plenty of young black children who look up to other black athletes. But I am also positive there are just as many white children who look up to black athletes and vice versa.

I just hate when people pull the race card out of nowhere... Like people thinking the hate for Cam is all about his skin color. There are undoubtedly people who hate him for that reason. But they're in the overwhelming minority.

Sorry if this gets pushed to Taboo! Lol
