The Broncos super Bowl victory stimulated my thinking about a rebuild. They were successful rebuilding their team, specifically their defense. Our defense is nowhere complete. Our DC, although a legend, is elderly and not certain to be a fixture over the next several years.

Our GM appears to be a promising talent, but early indications are he will be focused on OL 1st, then DL, then other positions. IMO we are 3-4 years away from being legitimate to compete for playoffs. Because of that, Mariota's contract and our DC's age, I'm not feeling good about investing money in this team during the next 3 years. Our ownership is inexperienced (and appears clueless), our HC and his staff (except DC) have proven unsuccessful in previous roles elsewhere. I expect yet another HC change within 2 years.

I'm specifically interested to hear other comments regarding the priorities of the rebuild and estimated timeline for success. I'm also specifically interested if current PSL holders are going to continue to purchase season tickets.

Personally, although it kills me to throw away a significant PSL investment, I just can't keep throwing good money after bad. I'm older, the team sucks and appears 3 years away at best, and I don't want to go to every game any more. I'm out unless there was something monumental introduced during the next few weeks. It would take something like a Peyton Manning is now on board announcement to get me to even reconsider.

Please focus comments on the timeline for success and if you intend to remain financially committed to the team. (eg- save the "rah-rah" and "true fan" dribble/rants for another thread)

Ok, first, as an out f town fan, I buy tickets on a per game basis as my schedule allows me to travel. So usually, that pushes them up a little as I don't buy the nose bleed types. The money I spend goes to more sources than the Titans as I need a hotel room and of course several meals and fuel cost for an 8 hour drive. With that out of the way, let me comment on the rest.
I think you do build through the lines. The last time we did it that way (Oilers) we rattled off about 10 years worth of play offs. The O-line will help the defense with sustained drives and padded leads. Beyond the lines, in this day and age, you combine free agency with the draft and you can get healthy quickly. With better talent acquisition, I believe this coaching staff is capable of 9 or so wins and that time line depends on the talent signed in the off season. However, I think we plateau at maybe 9-10 wins with this group of coaches and do not see them winning the big one. As I said in an earlier post, checkers and chess...

I don't really know what a true rebuild is for this team. I mean, we are already so damn young on both sides of the ball. Just from youth, I don't see how we are closer than, at minimum, two years, before we start contending for the division.

I am not a PSL holder, but I have been a loyal fan of this team for decades....

I agree that we likely bought ourselves a good 2-3 years of more on field frustrations with our coaching hires. Regardless of personnel, I see our ceiling with the current coaching staff in the 8-9 win range. Currently we are nowhere near that level from a personnel standpoint.

Where I am more optimistic is with personnel acquisition/development. I am optimistically hopeful that Robinson will develop a scouting group to begin to rebuild this team organically. This will be a 2-4 year process, and will be fun to watch.

The inflection point for me will be about 2 years from now. Will the ownership either 1. Make a legitimate coaching move during that time frame, regardless of whether we elevate from our current record or not (assuming that I am correct in my "ceiling" assessment above), OR 2. Recognize their limitations as owners and either sell the team or bring in a legitimate executive leadership group to run the team (which would be quickly followed by item 1. above IMO).

Bottom line is that if the ownership group does not evolve or sell, I will have a very tough decision to make in 2 years...

That said, my investment in this team is nowhere near the level as PSL holders. I buy NFL Sunday Ticket every season, and miscellaneous gear. It is easier for me to give ownership more time here...

It gets redundant after nearly a decade.

I'm a PSL holder and I am not considering giving them up. It is 8 sundays a year that I get to hangout with friends and see family. I am more than happy to make that time commitment.

Are the games as enjoyable as they used to be??? Hell no...we all hate losing. ..but the beer is cold and the friends are great... I'm hoping that we can get this thing turned around because I want my son to be able to feel the energy that the stadium used to have.

If you were going to write the script for a quick rebuild then I think we have the perfect ingredients....franchise QB, #1 pick in the draft, and lots of cap room...

If you're a true titans fan, do you have any choice? Stick with the bumpy ride. It will smooth out eventually.

Ive said it a few times already, but after the Ravens game in 2014 I decided I wouldn't throw anymore money the Titans way til they can win 2 games in a row. Any worthwhile team can at least stack 2 wins together, thats the first step for me is just seeing consecutive wins..
