I think Elway did some time in the arena league before joining the Broncos front office. In any case, Elway played for the Broncos. As much as some Titans fans wish Peyton had played here, in fact he spent much of his pro career ripping up the Titans chances at the post season (remember Fisher trying to offside kick just to keep the ball out of his hands?). I tip my hat to all that he has accomplished and think he's a class act, but that does not make him suited to being a team president. Perhaps 10 years from now, but he hasn't even hung up his helmet yet. FYI, the time he might have helped us was when he was looking for a place to land- and guess what- he chose Denver over us. Why would he want anything to do with us now?

Peyton has been running his own businesses on the side, including a bunch of Papa Johns franchises. You don't have to be out of football to do that. You can have people manage things during football season and oversee more in the offseason. Elway owning an Arena league team is naturally going to draw a lot of attention to himself, and win him some awards he probably wouldn't if he wasn't an NFL HOF QB.

Plus, Peyton has been around Elway for a few years now. I'm sure he's learned a lot and would be able to consult Elway at any time, if he should feel a bit lost in a role as President. The Titans need to take advantage of the opportunity and the Hollywood ending of his career. All they'd have to do is pick up the phone and make an honest effort to bring him in.

Owning Poppa John's franchises does not mean you run them. He in fact has said he is not very versed in the business operations. He hires good people and lets them deal with it. As a franchise CEO he will be able to do that as well; however there are some very big decisions the CEO will have to make. MOST of them to do with the business side.

I am not saying that TN should not give him a call and see how he feels about working in the front office. He is a very intelligent FOOTBALL mind. I just do not believe he is well enough versed in the business side. The Titans are ran different than Denver. Most of what the CEO for the Titans will do is business related. Peyton needs a few years at least before he is ready for that. It would be great if those years came while learning with the Titans. However, he still needs that time IMO.

I wouldn't mind if he was brought in as Vice President or something along those lines, but I don't trust the Lorax, now that he has hired himself as the President, when it was his JOB to find a new one.

I heard Peyton is running for Governor of Tennessee. Haslam and Ron Ramsey could be in trouble. I've heard Jon Gruden is running as well...

I completely agree that I do not trust him. He was to find an acceptable replacement for him as interim CEO. Apparently he presented none better than himself. Maybe AAS just wanted the guy to stay around. So MAYBE give him a pass on that one.

However, the complete SCAM he controlled and presented as a "HC Search"; shows exactly how much he thinks of the fans of this team. He honestly felt we were ignorant enough to believe the rice paper thin story they put out in regards to a "search" for a HC. That expansive list of 'highly qualified candidates", the list of at least 12 people calling wanting to be included in the searches. It was all so transparent. Nearly everyone knew they were going to retain Mularkey. It's so hard to believe anything the man says. Especially after the hire when he said, "I do not know why any fan would have a problem with our search & process of hiring." He is NOT that dim.....surely not......well maybe.....he is still convince Mike Mularkey can win a championship............

WOW, maybe he is that dim. Sorry was trying to give him too much credit. ANYWAY. I am with you on Underwood ABSOLUTELY NOT being the right guy to be the ultimate leader of the franchise. Anyone with any back bone & intelligence would of disputed such a decision. I WHOLE HEARTEDLY believe that back bone is a MUST HAVE for a CEO. If I owned the team; I would not want some one who so easily agreed with me. I would want them to tell me why I am wrong. Show me the negative points.

Realistically it goes back to the Owners. They are used to doing as they want, when they want, with little to no resistance.

Agreed. I am not convinced he had no role to play in NOT finding a new president to effectively replace him. That was a stupid call by the owners from the start. I mean, imagine your boss telling you that you are now assigned the task of hiring your replacement. What kind of crap is that? IT WAS THE ADAM'S FAMILY's RESPONSIBILITY TO DO THE SEARCH, THEMSELVES! Geesh. Hire a guy to replace...himself? Who does that? This illustrates just how utterly clueless the ownership group is in football matters, and why they need to sell it to a competent group/owner. All Underwood had to do was sit on his hands and tell AAS that he couldn't find anyone....yet. Pffffft.

With that in mind, you cannot tell me Underwood wasn't behind the choice of Mularkey, 100%. AAS just bought the BS he was selling, just like the BS sales job he gave her about the CEO/President role.

The whole front office is a Soup Samich, to put it mildly. They need Peyton to come in and clean up their mess.

Sorry, but you are wrong on that score. Why? Cause the Adams family doesn't do football. They know football like Kim Kardashian knows humility. They rely 100% on the garbage Underwood feeds them. After all, they hired him to hire himself. Does that not tell you how utterly clueless the ownership really is. He makes the decisions...they just have veto power, to sign off on them or not.

Truth is, they don't really give a damn. They got handed a divided inheritance, which is an automatic NFL revenue sharing money stream. There is no personal investment in it for them. They just want to minimize the expenditures so each person has a fatter piece of the pie (revenue sharing checks). I really hope the NFL forces them to sell. They are nothing more than a bunch of lottery ticket winners, who don't even live in TN.
