Elliott surprised you? Collins looked good too.

Figured the hype of Henry winning the Heisman would solidify him #1. Elliot looks good. I wouldn't be mad if we got him in 2nd round. Collins could drop in the 3rd round or further since he doesn't have all the media exposure possibly.

This could all change after the combine tho.

Elliot is the obvious #1, with Henry the obvious #2. I personally don't like Collins. Kenneth Dixon, that's a 3 down back right there. I'd LOVE him at 64, if he's there.

If we don't take Henry at No.34, or he's already off the board by then, I personally think the next guy in line is Devonte Booker, probably in the 3rd or 4th Rd.

But, to be honest, after Henry and Elliot, I don't see a franchise-level RB in this class.

Wouldn't surprise me then, to see Robinson try to sign Matt Forte in FA, as a temporary fill-in, and insurance in case Henry is off the board. If he is, then we can look to next year's huge haul of elite RB's

In general, I'm against reaching for players, taking players that don't fit our 'system,' or putting too many resources into a position. The idea is to get the best VALUE out of our resources (money and draft picks as well as current players we can trade).

Ideally, there is no player in this draft that gives us our best value for the #1 overall pick which is why we SHOULD try to trade down because in the 4-5 or later range, we can maximize the value of picks and players and pair that with need.

But your question was, am I against Ramsey at #1 IF we stay there (ostensibly assuming no trade down is offered)? No. I won't throw my remote against the wall (like I did when we took Locker) if we stay and take him there. On the other hand, if we stay at #1, it's much more likely we'd take Tunsil. Bosa would also be somewhat of a conventional wisdom pick (though that will really depend on how he looks at the combine and if they think he can play OLB or if he can add weight to play DE). And taking tunsil, as I've stated in earlier posts, can create more problems rather than solve them (when other teams did this same exact thing).

The other issue is how you use Ramsey. An example is Fowler - our FB. He's an excellent FB and a good special teams player. As a 4th round pick he's certainly worth that value. But if you use him 5 plays a game on offense...you negate his value and now make that pick not worth it.

So the other question is, where does Ramsey play? FS, CB or a hybrid player you move around depending on the defense and what you're trying to take away. If you're just gonna play him at CB, is he that much better than Hargreaves, Alexander, Apple, etc? Can you justify spending the #1 overall pick on a FS?

Let's give Ramsey the benefit of the doubt and say he's either Richard Sherman at CB or Ed Reed at FS. Do you take either of those guys at #1 overall? If your answer is yes, you take him. If the answer is no, you don't take him. If you said yes, the only other question is...how close to Richard Sherman or Ed Reed do you think he will be?

Tunsil is certainly worth talking about IF we have to stay at #1. He's an excellent OT and like Ramsey, would certainly boost the OL, but can't we fill this spot in free agency? Will this cause Lewan to ask for a trade because he ONLY sees himself as a LT? Since I don't know if Lewan is willing to move to RT, I can't answer that question. But this seems like a spot more easily filled in FA as it looks like 1-2 elite LT's and at least 1 good RT will be available. It is unlikely Josh Norman will be available at CB.

This will be an interesting thing to see play out for Robinson. I hope he addresses this as I would. Go after impact free agents at multiple positions to get as many difference makers on the team as possible while combining that with the talent and positions available to us in the draft to build the best team we can for next year and the future!

Gonna say no. Lewan was flexible his rookie year. They were having him cross train at both Tackle spots.. I cant remember how he did at RT tho..

He was flexible his rookie year because he was drafted to play RT and eventually maybe become the LT. But since Roos was injured, he's played LT whenever he's been healthy and talked about himself being the Titans LT. From his comments, he sounds like he is the team's LT for now and the future. He's a prideful guy so not sure how he'd take being moved to RT for a rookie (given that Lewan already mans the position and was himself a pretty high 1st round pick). Wasn't it Brandon Albert who was in this position and ended up demanding a trade? Team thought they'd have 2 great OT's but ended up trading the first one away because he wanted to stay at LT. LT's get paid more!
