Getting a pass rusher of that quality would be good, but I'd be starting Ramsey with the idea of him becoming the number one shut down CB. Moving everyone down the depth chart and making the secondary a position of strength. Which would provide more time for our pass rush. The pass rush can't do squat if WR get open right away.

For all those people hating on the possibility of drafting Tunsil, I think it shows us how this FO views Mariota. He truly is the face of the franchise and protecting him for the next 10-12 years is paramount to adding a DB. This team goes NOWHERE without a healthy and dangerous Marcus Mariota. You can spend the first overall pick on Ramsey, but if Marcus gets hurt bc another OLineman blows an assignment, we're back at 1-15 or 2-14.

He is the biggest piece of the puzzle and if Marcus is not upright it really doesn't matter how great of a combine Ramsey had.

    Draft Tunsil
    Add Mack/Wisniewski
    Add Gipson
See if you can grab Apple or Alexander in the 2nd
    Add Chris Ivory or Forte

That would be a HUGE offseason

He is a RT and wont get LT money. Most people have reported that he is looking for around 8 million a year. That's easy for us.

Lane Johnson is also making a switch to LT, if Jason Peters isn't there next year. Peters is 34 and is rumored to be a cap casualty. Lane signed a 5 year $56.26 million extension with Philadelphia. That's a lot of money for a RT if that's what Schwartz wants, but I'd still pay it. We'd be getting Schwartz in his prime and allows us not to 'waste' another top pick on an offensive linemen. If we sign Mitchell Schwartz, hopefully he can convince his brother to sign here as well to solidify our offensive line.

    Pay the dude.

Why not just take Tunsil and use the money to get multiple top FA at other positions? 12 mill/yr almost gets us Martin + Gipson alone...

Schwartz Ramsey vs Martin Gipson Tunsil

    I'd take the right side...

That does make some sense, but think of it this way...in FA, to get a high impact pass rusher or corner, you are going to be paying the same kind of money, if not more, as a solid veteran RT. Schwartz is a proven veteran...and just like Delanie Walker said "We don't need to get younger on the offensive line. We need to get some veterans on the O-Line." Schwartz provides that.

I like the idea of Tunsil a lot, but we have so many other needs. Even with Orakpo and Morgan healthy, our pass rush is only slightly above average at best, and we have no quality depth behind them. The Superbowl underscored just how much of an impact a fierce pass rush can make. It makes our DB's look better in the process.

The way I look at FA vs the Draft is this....wherever FA has quality and depth, address your needs there rather than the draft. Wherever it is poor, address your needs in the draft. OL prospects are pretty good this year, compared to others recently. Same thing goes for DB and to some degree, RB. Lamar Miller and Muscle Hampster would be the only two I'd be interested in. I like Forte, but him being over 30 now, scares me a bit.

Getting back to FA vs the Draft, the DL is relatively weak...at least in terms of elite pass rushers, who fit the 3-4 scheme. This is why I would take Bosa No.1. He is the closest thing to JJ Watt since......JJ Watt. :) He would immediately upgrade the production of the DL. Line him up outside Casey and who are you going to double-team?

The problem with Bosa is that he's not an elite pass rusher. Good all around lineman, but not elite in any category. Buckner is a better pass rusher but I wouldn't really want him either.

Bosa is indeed an elite pass rusher. He wouldn't have been sitting atop of many draftnicks board, if he weren't. He's an elite defender in both the passing and run game. His tape doesn't lie.

His tape doesn't lie, so how did you get the idea hes an elite pass rusher? He cant round the corner at 9 yards deep, QB's know this and let him over shoot them
