For everyone hoping for Schwartz (me), I think its time we start talking about other RT. If there starts a bidding war, there has, then I doubt we stay in very long. Last thing JR is going to do is sign a huge contract in his first year at the helm. If it goes north of 9, we should. Okung/Smith can be had for much less and not as a server play drop off as there will be in $.

We got murray and jones. Harrison is rumored to be headed here too. We need to be pushing hard for a rt. That one player would completely turn our o around. Ill be happy with fa if we can just land those 4 guys.

You are funny!!! You know you are arguing with YOURSELF!!!

But the reality is, you restated that if Bosa were drafted, he'd be a backup and role player (which is what I said...guess you missed that!). And your examples are poor. Watt is a DE who can play anywhere on their line while Clowney and Mercilus play OLB though Clowney can play DE on passing downs. On normal downs, ALL of them are on the field at the same time as they don't all play OLB! Shane Ray was a BACKUP player last year. And he wasn't taken with the first pick in the draft!

Bosa, Morgan, and Orakpo would all play OLB on normal downs. HUGE difference!!!

You don't take Bosa to be a backup and a situational pass rusher to develop into a starter. Not with the first pick in the draft. And as for Ramsey, he'd be by far the best CB on the roster or the best S on the roster and would start from day 1 at either position they decide to put him at. His size, speed, measureables and talent allow him to play any of the secondary positions whereas Bosa is limited in a 34D. Ramsey would start day 1 and yes, knock Cox out of the starting lineup (more likely he's fighting to not be cut since we signed McCain and could draft another cb). So according to my logic, and everyone else's in football, Bosa would be a backup and situational rusher whereas Ramsey would be a day 1 starter!!!

    Nice try!

The problem with your examples are that they don't apply to us. Watt plays DE, not OLB and they drafted Clowney to play OLB so none of their 3 would take one of the others position.

With the Broncos, they took Shane Ray late in the first round to be a backup and to eventually take over for Von miller if they couldnt sign him or Ware if his production dropped due to age. That's where you take those guys!

You don't take a backup with the #1 pick in the draft...even if he's gonna play 50% of the snaps as a situational rusher. I'd rather take Tunsil - who has the potential to be a top 5 LT and will play 100% of the snaps or Ramsey or Myles Jack for the same reasons!!!

I have a feeling we have already decided Tunsil is the pick or you'd think we would be rumored to be involved with Schwartz, Okung, Osemele...

There is no point in spending $9mil for a mediocre RT so you can expect 10-12 mil for the above guys. So either we go big for a Schwartz and look down our bookends for a while and give us a ton of flexibility in the draft or we go after a mid-level or backup guy in the next wave. OL players are at a premium as there aren't enough and only Dallas has a full and strong line.

Of course, if JR is smart, he also knows that he could get a good RT in round 2...possibly 3 and that it's not necessarily #1 pick or bust.

I don't think that's necessarily true. Just because there are no rumors, doesn't mean we are not talking with. How many people heard we were talking to Ben Jones? Rumors come from agents to bring more interest. That doesn't mean much. Until, they are gone, we could be there. Besides Smith/Okung can be had for much less than 9 million.

If we can grab Harrison, Sean Smith, LG or RT, and either Sanu or Matthews I'm feeling good about FA.
