I don't profess or even want to profess to know what kids under 30 care about.
Most of the stuff they like that I've heard is utter shyte anyway.
You apparently want to be "creepy old guy" who shows at the rave in a One Direction t-shirt.
Regardless, these votes are reflective of the majority here.
All my bands got voted out with extreme prejudice early on..

 

1 - LOL. That's not hipster, but whatever dude.

2 - If you pay attention to who voted for what here I think you'd see that in most cases if people didn't have a dog in the race they didn't punch a card.
I personally gave a listen to every band I was not familiar with.
Nobody every said this contest was for the kids anyway - but we still saw Mumford edge out Motorhead days after Lemmy's death. Muse, Coldplay and all their clones did relatively well too. So if there are any kids here, they had their vote.
Ultimately your gripe feels mostly like you have the problem with the finals results and want to justify that by broadcasting a liberal view of youth music trends.

3 - You voted Rush and Rush again, which results in negative "cool" level with all commentary privileges long revoked..
