If we drafted him we would basically have 3 first round rookies going into the 2017 season. That's scary good

I don't get the logic of drafting him now we have extra picks. Like we can waste a pick if we want on damaged goods. He is either worth the pick or he is not.

None of our 3 2nd rd picks is a wild card pick we can throw at anybody.

Let's draft quality with every pick!

Well Smith is better than most, so it's a long term thing if he's worth any of our picks

I personally think Jaylon Smith is somewhat like South Carolina's RB (Lattimore) was a few years ago...basically a top pick before the injury and damaged goods after it. Heck DE/LB Curt Maggitt for the Vols was/is in a similar situation. If he had a 2015 to match or exceed his 2014 season, he would be a 1st Rd prospect...no doubt in my mind. Then early in the season, against Oklahoma, he got injured with a bone chip in his hip, and has been rehabbing it.

Without being cleared medically, he may no get drafted at all. If his medical report is such that he is expected to good to go by training camp, then he might get back into the 4-6Rd range. I would rather take a chance on him, with a late rd pick than with Smith's injury, and taking him early.

Depends how good his medical reports come back. If they come back solid.. then absolutely. He's one of the best draft prospects when healthy. He'd be like ramsey.. smart, good leader, playmaker..

At first I was thinking 4th, but after hearing him interviewed and reading that he does seem to be progressing, I think someone takes a gamble on him in the 2nd.

At the end of the day, all players are gambles. He seems worth it.

If he fully recovers, he's gonna be a steal.

Now that we have these extra picks, I'd take him in the 2nd at #45. This could be a situation where teams have more info on his injury and maybe he doesn't go until later. Who knows. But the dude is an all around awesome prospect.
