It would take like 1/16th the money to sign Vasquez.

Even though Norman is good or whatever, he wants to be paid. As many has mentioned already, lets draft a good CB instead. Hell, draft two CB's in the 2nd round if we're that desperate, it would be alot cheaper than paying Norman plus we'll have more competition going into training camp.

I guess we aren't use to paying elite players. At some point whether we draft a DB in hopes of him turning into a stud or signing a guy like Norman we are going to have to pay them what they are worth

The more I think about it, the more you guys are right. I loved watching our CB's give up 34 passing TD's this year. Let's draft a corner and hope we beat the odd and he is the next Marcus Peters. I'm all for drafting a cornerback but the bust rate for that position is very high even for the highly touted guys.

These are all the CB's taken with top 20 picks since 2010 (I didn't count 2015) There have been 11 high picks on cornerbacks and 9 of them you probably wouldn't want on your team.

    Not hits:
Morris Claiborne, Stephon Gilmore, Dre Kirkpatrick, Prince Amukamara, Dee Milliner, DJ Hayden, Justin Gilbert, Kyle Fuller, Kareem Jackson

    Hits:
Joe Haden (7th pick), Patrick Patterson (5th pick)

Get a proven CB, lock that position down with somebody who has had NFL success. You've got the money, spend it on this position and don't gamble when the odds are very much against you.

    Are you kidding?

I'd take Gilmore, Amukamara, Fuller, Jackson, and even Kirkpatrick came on late last year.

All of those guys would be upgrades to this secondary.

Like the guy. Possibly product of the system. Can't hate that he's trying to get paid. Not worth it for a 28-29yr old CB. Jags and 49ers will end up in a bidding war. My guess, he will get 18-20 million a year.

I'm not sure Norman is the tough minded, "roll up your sleeves" personality type that JR has repeatedly stated he wants on this team. (also have doubts we'd draft Nkemdiche for the same reason). I don't really know. I just recall not liking Norman because seems like he was in the middle of al that Panther D nonsense- all mouthy and juvenile with the black bats etc.

I'd like to see us make a move to get him but I'd prefer we spent some draft capital and moved to get Ramsey. We'd have better signing options for depth the next few years and with roster cuts. Certainly not opposed to signing Norman, but he has made his mark with zone coverage.
