This needs to be looked at as 1 complete trade.

    Titans trade away:

1st overall pick, one of our 3rd round picks this year, a 4th round pick this year, a 6th round pick this year, and a 2nd round pick next year.

    Titans receive:

8th overall pick this year, two 2nd round picks this year, a 3rd round pick this year, a 6th round pick this year, 1st round pick next year, and 3rd round pick next year. We spend the 8th pick on the player we were targeting anyways.

This is still amazingly in favor of the Titans.

I tend to agree. But I also know what the mindset of this team has been since drafting Mariota.

Who do you take instead that was there at #15? There were a couple of teams needing OT picking ahead JR must have felt Conklin was a notch above the Ohio State kid or didn't want the Tunsil baggage.

The Titans got two second-rounders from the Rams. If you are considering one of those equivalent to giving up a second-rounder in '17, then the Titans still walk away with a second in '16 and a first an third in '17 for moving down to #8.

This pick improves our run and passing games and arguably defense. In our current circumstance, it hard to imagine a single player would impact us more on a game to game basis.

    Conklin solid?- yes.

    Worth #15, #76, and next year's 2nd?- no.

Did we still come out ahead? Yes

Did we come out ahead as good as we should have? - no.

What team would have taken Conklin between #8 and #15? Miami. And that would have most likely left us with Tunsil at #15.

My point is, right now it appears we reached on Conklin. If he is a super stud 3 years from now , then of course, we didn't. So I'm not terribly upset with what w (JR) did, just a little disappointed because we should've done better. It suggests we arranged the trade prior to Tunsils video and got desperate reaching for best RT available.

Watch the chit hit the fan, if Tunsil turns out to be the stud the pundits were suggesting.

Lots of teams need OT help. You're assuming no one trades ahead of #15 for one or the other.

That's not much of assumption. You assume somebody would. And history how's says we were the only team that valued Conklin at what we gave up. Let's just call it like it is.

I 100% guarantee the Giants would've taken him at 10.

Their top two players were Floyd and Conklin. They had to be pissed missing out on both.

Then they inexplicably took Apple at 10, which was the dumbest pick of the first round.
