I love the idea of getting a top 5 guy at #33, but with hearing how bad his knee is/could be, this roster just isn’t in the position to spend a 2nd on someone who may not be able to play. Not with the number of quality players still available. There’s no reason JR can’t find 3 guys who’ll be starters within a year. I’d go:

#33 – Billings. I’m sick of the ball being run down our throat, it’s embarrassing and needs to stop. Take the best NT available and rotate him in with Woods. DL is fixed which will help the entire team.
    #43 - Best CB available. Mackenzie/Fuller, whatever.
#45 – Best FS available, they seem to like Bell.

After that I think our D should be in a good place. So in the 3rd, I take Jaylen Smith if my doctors say he should be able to play in 2017.

The nice thing about this is all the holes have been plugged. Gets everyone a year of experience, and then next draft JR can get 2 playmakers in the 1st. I think the team is looking pretty damn good at that point.

Sounds like you know your stuff about this. Isn't Jaylon Smith in the same boat as Myles Jack?

I've had both and I'm in Sports Medicine/Orthopedics.

No, Jaylon Smith as far as I know did not have any Cartilage damage, but had his Peroneal Nerve stretched. Each day his nerve is healing and should be firing a little better than the day before, but it will take time, but he has time because he's rehabbing his ACL.

As was tweeted just earlier, Smith's knee gets better everyday, while Myles Jack deteriorates. You cannot re-grow cartilage. When Jack does have microfracture, he'll be mandated to no hard contact(running/jumping) for 6-9 months! And the fact that Smith's nerve wasn't severed means he should heal sufficiently.

    2 - Michael Thomas - WR
    3 - Hassan Ridgeway - NT

Excellent info! All the more reason to take Smith in the third and let him sit the year. If he can start 2017 at 100%, that's like having 3 1st rounders start next year. Think about that.... Crazy!

I read that Smith's peroneal nerve was stretched so bad that it paralyzed the muscles that it controls. It is still asleep, he can't lift his foot up or move it from side by side and it will be months before doctors can determine the extent that the nerve will eventually "wake up" .
