i do not know if byard is worthy of that pick based on projections from the draft heads..... But I really really like the culture JR is building.... Every pick so far is called high football iq (Byard), or nasty, mauling, punishing (Henry), powerful with potential to dominate an opponent (Johnson), relentless competitor (Dodd). This has been a successful draft in setting a tone and culture. Our identity that we want is forming....... And lord help a defense that just took 15 hits from Murray, to face a fresh Henry. That is simply demoralizing for an opponent.

Players that aren't good enough to be NFL players will not be here long enough to set any kind of culture for the guys that can actually play.

    Oh yeah, sorry, I forgot.

Our team of choir boys will get run ruled so they have time to make it to their Sunday School class. Ownership will love it.

If nothing else we are going to see Murray and Henry truck Griffin's ass to the ground week 1 at home.

    It will be glorious.

My biggest concern with the culture we're creating...

Josh McDaniels adopted the same type of thing from the Pats. That's why he took Tebow because he wanted a high character guy who'd work his ass off.

That only goes so far in the NFL.

I think you need a mix of both character guys and idiots (pure athletes). I hope we don't completely ignore elite talent in the future just because of character concerns.

Right on man…we gave up too much talent for character guys in this draft. The key is to have the right mix of character guys who get the most out of the "high-talent" guys. The best of both worlds is if you get your high talent guys to also be the hardest workers/character guys on the team..i.e. Mariota. For the guys we took there is too much risk that they work out in the NFL. If we were going to be risky take Jaylon Smith or Miles Jack who are high talent and character guys with medical risks. I'll take the medical risks and with today's modern medicine they have a good chance of being great players for many years. I feel we are going to look back at this draft in 3 yrs and say why didn't we take the guys the Jags did? We could of Ramsey (if we didn't trade back) and Miles Jack in rd 2.

I agree. Its harder to change a person character then it is to train young prospects though.

I think difference between some of these guys in the groups they are left with isn't that big. At the top of the first you may have standouts. But as you get to the late 2nd-3rd and onwards the difference between the players left is diminishing. All are projects. This is why I have no problem in making character a deciding factor.

Most fans want to win straight away. I get that, however, we were never one draft away, and were always a 3-4 year prospect. I have no problem taking people you see a longer term future in, in relation to talent and character. If we were a draft away, I could understand most of the comments on this board, the reality is we just aren't.

Furthermore, we have been bad, But I would expect more from some of the guys we currently have when paired up with some of our recent signings and draft picks. Especially on the OL.

Are we going to be a playoff team this up coming season. No, would we have been with an A grade draft, no I don't think so. Are we building, yes. Can we be there in 3 or 4 drafts using this strategy, yes.

    Just my opinion

I would contend every pick but the middle Tennessee one has been high value. No one was reached for, and are talented.
