If you build the front 7 properly - you can get away with competition on the back end while not spending high draft Capitol on them. That's what we set out to do. Add Dodd and Austin to the mix of Casey, woods, Morgan, rak and blackson- a lot of movable pieces here. Austin reminds me a lot of Casey as well. Williamson, woodyard, spence, Nate Palmer and the rookie Wallace should make a decent rotation Inside.

The three DBs we took are competition for our team. If 1 of them makes it- we did fine.

Yeah, ever notice how when you are cleaning out your car and a two year old frenchfry under the seat doesn't look that much different than when you dropped it.

2016 NFL Draft: Quick-snap grades for AFC teams - NFL.com

    Tennessee Titans
Draft picks: Jack Conklin (No. 8 overall), Kevin Dodd (No. 33 overall), Austin Johnson(No. 42 overall), Derrick Henry (No. 45 overall), Kevin Byard (No. 64 overall), Tajae Sharpe (No. 140 overall), LeShaun Sims (No. 157 overall), Sebastian Tretola (No. 193 overall), Aaron Wallace (No. 222 overall), Kalan Reed (No. 253 overall)
    Day 1 grade: A
    Day 2 grade: A
    Day 3 grade: B+
    Overall grade: A
The skinny: Even after giving up quality picks in the trade up for Conklin, the Titans still made out due to their move down from the top spot. Conklin's a beast who will thrive on the right side of the line, across from Taylor Lewan. So they met their need and gained picks ... that's a win. Here's a great Day 2 haul: A powerful Heisman Trophy-winning back, a strong nose tackle, an up-and-coming pass rusher and a safety with great hands for the turnover.

Overall, this was a good haul. Sharpe can win downfield. Tretola the best among their day three guys; just tell him which way the play is going, and he'll plow a hole for Henry to run through. Reed was an underrated player who shouldn't have been Mr. Irrelevant because his talent should have received a higher grade. Wallace actually began to live up to his promise in his senior year, earning that draft spot

It seems like he was making picks to remove Webster's stink from past drafted.

Dodd and Henry make zero sense to me. Dodd being a 4-3 de but performed in his one season. Henry because we traded for Murray, drafted Cobb and Andrews. Both are serviceable backups. More importantly we had more pressing needs than another running back who won't play much anyway.

Anyone know what the team gave up to get the extra late round picks? I was wondering about that. Somehow the Titans ended up with an extra 5th and 7th I believe. Was wondering how that happened....

I think you are wrong. Henry will play a bunch. But not carry a full load. We have a lot of needs and filled some of them. We weren't filling them all in this draft. We needed talent. We got it.

    1. Jack Conklin - Love the pick.

    2. Kevin Dodd - Like the pick. 23.5 tackles for a loss this past season. 1 year wonder though?

    3. Austin Johnson - Love the pick.

    4. Derrick Henry - Love the pick. Thunder and more thunder!

    5. Kevin Byard - Hopeful. Didn't know anything about him at all before draft. Looks promising and I believe in Jon Robinson.

    6. Tajae Sharp - Love the pick. Dude gets separation and has good hands. Good downfield blocker. Could play special teams because of his willingness to be physical.

    7. Leshaun Sims - Like the pick. Good size. Good tackler. Needs work in coverage and has average speed.

    8. Sebastian Tretola - Love the pick. Nasty physical mauler. Needs work on pass protection and could get in better shape. Great personality!

I haven't evaluated either of the last 2 picks yet. wanted to get in on discussion though. Like the draft a lot. Like Jon Robinson a lot. Very interested in the plan that seems to be getting implemented by the team. Looking to be that team that just beats everyone up physically. With so many teams focusing on flashiness, they may not like playing the Titans. It may hurt.

Love this draft, the team has competition at every position outside of qb, k and p. That's a good way to start. It honestly wouldn't surprise me at all if the guy i or we think is going start loses his job, at any position (minus: casey, mm8, walker, rak and morgan).
