Doesn't take much skill to fill a hole.

Don't say that, sounds like something a convict would say.

I really wanted a CB round 1 or 2 going into the draft, but the more I think about it, the less I feel that we had a real hole in the secondary. It was more like a lack of sufficient depth.

Jmac and Cox are good enough starters for the D to remain competitive. Improving the front 7 should help them out as well.

It really was the lack of depth that killed us last year. Talent level drop off was just too much.

Ideally we would have a better starting corner, but for this year it should be fine. I'd expect to draft one high next year most likely

As much as people on this board want to dismiss the run game as some archaic firm of football, it's not.

Teams ran down our throats last year and wore our D down. It's demoralizing too when you just can't stop it, and it opens up everything else for the opposing O. Fixing the D really does start there. Gotta stop the run 1st. Things get a lot easier if you can make a team 1 dimensional.

Not saying we should stop there, but you can't fix it all in one year, and with 5 wins in 2 years, this is more than a one year fix

If this O line can come together and gel, and DGB becomed that #1, then I think we are pretty much set on offense.

LG is the only question mark, but we should have plenty if competition there, surely 1 player will step up and separate from the group.

But I like our WRs, TEs, RBs, and QB ... should be a very solid group if we get the protection that we need.

I think that Jones and Conklin will be HUGE upgrades that have a ripple effect on the whole OL.

Last year warmack played between a combination of Trash C and trash RT ... putting some quality players next to him may make him look a lot better.

Jones should be able to anchor the interior line and help to get us in the right protections. No more completely missing assignments and letting guys go unblocked to the QB (hopefully)

Also getting any semblance of a running game is going to keep Ds from Teeing off on 3rd and longs about 50 times per game
