Here's a good comparison to TN.

Greenbay and TN had IDENTICAL passing yards last season. Both ranked 25th in the NFL with 3503 passing yards.

However GB made the Playoffs while TN got the #1 pick. What then was the difference?

GB ranked 12th in rushing with 1850 yards while TN ranked 25th in rushing with 1485 yards.

Exactly, regardless of FB's evolvements you still need balance to keep other teams guessing.

You need to be able to run the ball especially during those bad weather months and in the playoffs.

You put teams away in the 4th quarter when you have a lead and eat time up with the run. Something we couldn't do last year.....

 

Hate to break it to everyone but it looks like we're going back to fisher ball. The run run pass method and try to squeak it out in the 4th. It only works when you have a clutch qb and so far mariota hasn't been clutch. Hopefully mm doesnt run run pass the entire year.

 

Also don't forget if MM8 can continue to improve his play action and getting used to turning his back the defense, his super quick release is going to be tough to defend. Yea I was critical of this draft at first bit the more I've looked in to it the more I like it. Also go look at Eddie's college film and then Henry's and tell me they arent pretty similar. The only thing I would say is that Eddie was a little bit more of a patient runner coming out and played with a better pad level.

 

Hard to have a good playaction game when no one respects the run.

Just having demarco/Henry will do wonders for playaction

 

Having a competent Center and Right Tackle will REALLY go a long ways in helping the play-action, Mariota should now have the time to make things click.

 

There are only two ways to advance the football, either by throwing or by running. Running the ball will always have its place in football.

Actually this isn't Fisherball. No one on this staff has ties to fisher.

This is Mularkey ball. Look at mularkeys track record as an OC. He always has had big physical RBs in PIT and ATL, however he still had some high powered offenses. He just prefers a balanced attack.

Titans had no balance last year. It was Mariota or nothing basically.

Mularkey is trying to build a team similar to what he had in ATL with Matt Ryan. Very powerful run game and an effective pass game.
