Yeah for some reason we've been getting substantially less votes here during the home stretch than we did round 2.

well I haven't joined the fun because IDK much about the movies all these guys are from

I think traffic is down now, its not football season and most fans just dont care for the draft the way youd think, so no one is being driven to see the thread, but maybe thats wrong IDK, makes sense tho

We were getting like 11+ votes on a many of the 2nd round matchups. I assumed interest would increase as the finals got closer, not the other way around.

Thats what happens when a fish knocks off demons and Meyers gets beaten out by the thing.

My interest went south after that. There are a few people synonymous with horror. When those people get knocked out early. ...

Cant speak for everyone. I just lost interest after that.

Its not like music where you literally can have tons of favorites. This is a much smaller "field." That would be my guess as the main reason this isnt getting that much attention. Not as many people are interested and once their favorites are gone, its just meh. (Meyers is my all time favorite so i just didnt care as much when he was eliminated )

I'm guessing that there might be someone here who'd disagree with this, but horror is a really limited genre. Like comedies which are rarely funny except to those who enjoy schadenfraud and adolescent fart humor, horror films are rarely horrifying and often have little to offer other than jump scares. "Alien" has only one horrifying scene; the rest of it was Hitchcock-esque suspense, which was (and still is) great. "The Thing" was a great story with excellent effects, and the team's paranoia was as intriguing as the monster. Slasher films with their jump scares and violence porn don't interest me at all; if I want that I'd rather go towards a revenge film such as "Hobo With A Shotgun". I do like paranormal horror films ("Insidious", "The Omen") but even they are rarely intriguing...Kubrick's "The Shining" had some nice Kubrickian cinematography but he rewrote the story and turned it into dog squeeze; "Rosemary's Baby" had the look and feel of the Mary Tyler Moore Show; "IT"- like "The Shining"- started out interesting and then ran off the rails into farcical territory. And again: I have no idea who Pinhead is or what he even does...I can't think of a worse way to fail than that.
"Jaws" isn't a horror film at all to me- more like action/adventure- but I appreciate how the cinematography made events only 500 yards off shore seem like they were in open barren sea.

Still...these battles give me something to click on in dead time....
