Lol, yeah, that was supposed to be a 2, but you get my point. He fell because teams felt he couldn't rush the passer well enough, bad 2nd motor, and young. etc...Johnson is a monster strength wise, 3 inches taller, heavier, and more of the 3-4 fit as he plays low and takes on double teams often...Again, it comes down to scheme and the Titans weren't moving from it. I liked this pick and the kid is WAY better than Jones or Blackson. That said, I was big on Billings too and was shocked he fell to the 4th. I really liked him and would have been happy if we got him as well.

Now, that's definitely something we can agree on. He will be a lot better than Blackson or Woods. Jones was actually a really solid 3-4 DE (especially vs. the run).

Yeah I was surprised when he did play..even Blackson wasn't bad...Johnson is a true NT and should be a nice complement with Woods...plus ya got 2 Penn State guys on the line for some chemistry.

I'm just glad we are building up to some kind of actual identity on offense instead of trying to play physical football with out the personnel, then trying to spread everyone out going 4-5 wide with out the players to make it succeful. Now we at least know what we are trying to do. Establish the run game, try to win TOP, and then get MM involved in a lot of play action that will get him on the move making him more deadly as a duel threat, especially if teams have to respect the run game.

So, are you saying that the Seahawks just lucked into having a good D and good run game? They just woke up one day and said “Oh my god, we have a really good RB and defense. We were trying to build a passing team for this ‘New NFL’ but screw it, the pieces are already here for smash mouth, let’s just go with it” …

No, obviously they had a vision (much like JRob and Mularkey) to go out and create that style of team… just look at their draft picks over the last few years since Pete Carroll took over (all picks listed at bottom of this post)

With his 1st pick in 2010 he selects a T. Then, later in 2010, he gives up 2 draft picks to aquire an RB (Marshawn Lynch)

In 2011, he takes OL with his 1st 3 picks!! (this board would go nuts)

In this supposed ‘new passing league’ but he neglecting taking a QB until Rd 3 in his 3rd draft in 2012.

Over this time he selected 11 OL … 6 of which were picked in the top 3 rounds.

Are you telling me the Seahawks stumbled upon a smash mouth team? …. No, they went out and specifically built one. And it has done them pretty well so far.

And they were still building this elite defense at the time. Look at how many picks came on D. 31 out of 56 players drafted were defenders. Its not like they already had the Defense yet.

Nope. Simply saying the two styles are interdependent of each other.

You can't do a smash mouth running attack with a bad defense. It won't work.

That magical coveted system being run in Seattle saw their star running back get 20 yards on 6 carries in their playoff game. Why? They fell behind lighting fast.

We are going to feel pretty stupid investing so much in the running back position when our defense that is just as average as last year on paper is not good enough to sustain the offense.

True...That said, we only took 2 offensive players in the first 3 rounds, and grabbed 6 defensive players. I REALLY hope we go heavy Defense again next year...Only WR/TE on Offense IMO

Agreed, I want the best CB available. If that requires a trade up, I don't care. Although if there's a couple really good ones, hopefully one falls to one of our firsts.
