Haha...this is good. Doesn't help to have 350 lb lineman beating on you 1, 2 or 3 at a time because the line sucked...

    No. Lol

Only Mariota can help his deep ball, but it's very likely he will never be a good deep ball thrower. Limits his upside, but doesn't completely cripple him like some suggest.

As for Mariota bulking up, he's added 5 pounds. Not 15.

5 lbs. could be the difference in a pass at DGB's fingertips... or between Vontae Davis' two numbers...

are you debating his weak arm?

if he was just throwing ducks then ok you have a point, but explain the fumbles?

his arm is weak, it is what it is..

Weak arms cause fumbles? I think I remember several of his fumbles just being terrible blunders rather than the ball being stripped.
Most of the time it was just a case of trying to do too much and not holding on to the ball.

I wouldn't expect many QBs to hold up a big ass defensive player with one arm anyway.

what do you attribute the other 8-9 fumbles to then?

Im telling you, he is not a strong guy, thats how simple love taps turn into disasters.

I think I recall one play where Bell or possibly Poutasi were shoved into him awkwardly, so we'll say that wasnt on him, but the rest were...

Pretty much this. If you go and watch the Mariota game film from college and last season, I think the longest throw he made through the air was probably 45-50 yards.

I dont expect his deep ball to improve much.

Mariota actually kind of reminds me of a better, more athletic version of Chad Pennington. Weak arm, but intelligent, very accurate and a very quick release. Not a diss btw, cause Chad Pennington could have arguably been a top 10 QB year in and year out if he wasn't so injury prone. Actually the only QB to win the AFC East besides Brady/Patriots over the last 15 years.

I wouldn't say his arm is "Weak" but he definitely doesn't have the strongest arm vs other NFL competition. That said, I agree with the above statements. I don't care if he had a rocket of an arm. That doesn't guarantee better play. We drafted him for his smarts, leadership, wheels, and accuracy. I'll take all of those traits over a strong arm any day. Mett is a good example. I think Marcus can easily be a top 10 in this league.
