I know, I am just being an ******* as usual

And I am making fun of those who think he can never be a decent deep ball passer and who overvalue the deep ball.

I don't think it's overvaluing it. If we're going to be a run-first team we'll need to be able to hit a few of them a game to keep teams from selling out against the run.

And he can learn to do that.

He needs to hit guys on the run. He may have been able to hit stationary receivers deep in college but, outside of the odd time, it will not work in the NFL. He can learn it but it will take time.

Having great arm strength isn't an absolute must have... Fran Tarkenton, Bart Star, Chad Pennington, Joe Montana... none had great arm strength.

Mariota will be fine. And YES Chad Pennington. Mariota just needs to keep doing what he's doing and work to get better.... hopefully he won't be getting sacked 3 times a game this season, and hopefully one or two wide outs decide to step up to help. His game is short to intermediate not bombs anyway. Anyone ever watch Brady? Short, short, short, medium, short, long... just saying if you look at yards per attempt Mariota was 10th and Brady was 9th by .02 yards. Knowing the game an having the right people around you is the key to success, not being able to throw the ball 70 yards in the air... anyone remember a guy named Vince?

Anyone remember rocket arm Zach Mettenberger?! Lol exactly...Mariota has the goods to make up for NOT having a cannon, which btw, his arm strength is plenty fine. Better than Alex Smith and that dude is successful every year.

So much hyperbole in this thread. When the comparisons range from Zach Mettenberger to Tom Brady what is being accomplished? A guy who was a marginal backup and the other that is the best to ever play the position. I am fairly confident in saying that Mariota will fall somewhere in between...
