I wanted to gauge the excitement of longtime Titans fans heading into this season.

I will admit that mine is at an all-time low. I usually read all the fluff pieces that get pumped out between the draft and camp but have avoided most this summer. My belief is I'll believe it when I see it on Sunday.

I'm trying my best to polish the turd but not seeing much of a shine. I like Mariota's potential, bringing in Jones and the attitude brought in by Robinson but that's about it.

Many of the concerns I had at the end of last season remain. I read some of you saying that the division is wide open but I don't see it. Make me a believer.

I still see us as a 6-7 win team. We aren't there yet. We need a few playmakers still, and a secondary that isn't swiss cheese before I go thinking that we are an above .500 team.

I'll say I'm probably back to where I was last year at this time of the year, which is really saying something after we kept Mularkey

Jon Robinson has done almost everything you could ask a guy to do in his first 6 months on the job

We also have some fun pieces to cheer for. Mariota, Walker, and Henry finally gives us a Big 3 on offense.

On a scale of 1-10 I'm at about a 7. Mostly because I just want football season.
It's hard to get excited after going from 31st to 32nd.

We made improvements in the running game but is a rookie and a new center going to be enough to really fix the offense? I don't know. The defense was already promising so if we can piece together a legitimate offense I think we could squeak into the playoffs. That being said, I wouldn't bet money on it.

This is where I've been for the past few years. Every year there's something you could put on the two-tone blue glasses and try to get excited about. Whisenhunt hired, Mariota drafted, now Jon Robinson. But until I see them actually put it together on the field I'm continuing my financial boycott of this team.

I do however believe the division is wide open.

Jags: Everyone is hyping them to take the next step because of their great, on paper, defense. But our OL a couple years back was pretty great on paper as well. And we know how that turned out. Much like with us, I'll buy the Jags as this team to be reckoned with when I actually see it.

Texans: I just think Osweiller is trash to be completely honest. I see him flopping big time. Still their defense will be able to keep them in most games.

Colts: If I had to bet money on a division winner, it'd be them. But I just don't see a dominant team in them either. Defense is mediocre at best. Luck can be streaky. Eh, we'll see.

If Mariota takes his game to the next level and our defense is even above-average I think we're right in the mix. But again, I can't buy in fully until I see it on the field.

i like some of the pickups we've made..

but then i always remember Mularkey is still our coach, and reality sets in

we are going to waste DeMarco like we wasted Randy Moss

The offense with Schwenke & Co was horrible, absolutely horrible.

Anyone not named Brain Schwenke would make us better. And Ben Jones can actually hang, he will help us a lot IMO.

I’m pumped because football is near. Football being back is so much better than seeing tennis, baseball and soccer highlights on SportsCenter every morning.

As far as Titans optimism, I’m expecting 5-6 wins, which isn’t exciting. If we had actually hired a head coach worth anything, I would be more optimistic. But Mularkey’s record speaks for itself. I’m still jealous we didn’t hire Hue Jackson. I think he would have been great here.

We also didn’t address the gaping hole at CB and WR. Maybe next year with our two 1st round picks we can get some game changers there.

Overall, excited for football. Not optimistic about the Titans.
