Correct. I would be bitching if we had still won all of those games. If we had won all 3 it would have been boiled down to other teams mistakes not us exploiting them.

He has coached in a piss poor manner and it shows badly. The minute before half, not sure where he went to school for clock management but it was the worst one that's for sure. Lots of little things literally any coach could improve upon, yet all these years later mularkey hasn't.

A few things we need to remember about Mariota is that he's learning a NEW offense with WR/RB he’s never played with. This offense is trying to create mismatches with pre-snap motion and teams have now seen enough film to lessen its effectiveness.

He’s not seeing separation and, IMO, isn’t trusting himself to fit his passes into small windows. That means he’s often late. It doesn’t help he doesn’t have enough guys who make plays for him.

Mariota is staring down his targets too often. When his first read isn’t open, I’m seeing a lot of dancing around and his mechanics break down. He just doesn’t look as comfortable as he did last season in the pocket working through his progressions.

Getting Walker and Wright back immediately helps but it’ll take more WR talent than the Titans have on the roster. It’ll also take better scheme/plays and having those two guys back opens up the playbook to more options. Think about how not having those two guys on the field limits the offense.

With both in, we might see more formations like the Titans used on those late drives against the Lions and Raiders. No doubt Mariota is much more effective when the Titans spread it out and he gets into a rhythm.

I keep reading him say after games stuff like “I was trying to do too much”. It’s time for him to settle down and make smarter decisions. Just protecting the football makes him a better QB.

So I admit a lot of the problems are Mariota. But I expect to see him struggle at times. He blew the Vikes game but have you seen Rodgers and Newton against the Vikes? Mariota played well for most of that game.

Should we be concerned? Sure. But I’m not Locker/Young concerned. Not yet.

This was my point about checkdowns and outlets for him. As you point out, he has few options. Even a 4 yard pass completion is better than nothing. For some reason we are in max protection (Amy?) and not putting receivers out on short routes, other than designed plays for Murray. On the attempted TD, we really had no options in the end zone other than Douglas. Remember last year against NO we rolled MM out and had the TE go back against the flow and he was wide open? We rolled MM into nothing but a small corner for the TD attempt Sunday. Douglas slips...end of game. One other receiver running covered in the end zone. No TE (Amaro is tall) for an option. No DGB - gone. No Murray running out of the backfield. All or nothing. Not good for a rookie QB.

Hopefully getting Wright and Walker back next week helps. It should.

Also, Amaro has to replace Supernaw. Having Amaro on the field is another pass catching threat. Massive upgrade on Fasano and Supernaw in the pass catching department. I really hope Amaro is active next week, even with Walker back.

Marcus needs more weapons. Walker, Amaro, Wright can make a difference.

I really miss KW, I know a lot of people don't like him but he's better than Matthews. Matthews, wow, what a bust of a FA signing. If he makes some of those catches he dropped we have a different game. Dude shows no speed, quickness, explosion or hands.

UT had not beaten Florida in 11 years, and was down 21-3. They had real concerns and emotions.

When KW comes back, he literally has the chance of a lifetime.

This WR core looks so putrid, if he even becomes just a decent threat lining up in the slot or outside, he is gonna be getting paid nicely by the Titans.

Don't even worry about other teams throwing money at him, the Titans will overpay because they can't afford to go into next season again with literally just Walker and possibly a 1st round WR as Mariota's only legitimate options.
