The offense was great vs. the Vikes until the stupid mistakes.

We ran the football as good last Sunday as I've seen in a long time.

I have to think the playbook is limited when Wright and Walker are not on the field. We'll see a lot on Sunday when all the weapons are available.

Scheme can't overcome mental errors or a lack of talent. Just cleaning up the mistakes will make this offense much more productive, IMO.

In the 2nd half of the game we ran the ball 9 times on 1st down and gained 4 or more yards on 8 of the runs. That is very solid execution in the run game. Before the final drive we threw 5 times on 1st down and only had 1 play for more than 4 yds. For the game before the final drive we ran the ball 14 times on 1st down and threw the ball 13 times. We had successful runs on 10 of the 14 1st down runs while we were only 5 of 13 in the passing department.

No. Mariota has weapons. He has two really good backs. A solid oline. Average wrs, not the best but by no means scrubs like we've had in the past. The best TE we've had since Frank W.

When you get a new Corvette, what is the first thought in your mind? Protect it! So we get a (hopefully) franchise QB, and Whiz doesn't (or can't) do this, but through the draft we pick another #1 tackle. So now we have a decent looking line in place, having also added Jones. Even missing our starting RG, Kline came in and played pretty well. That is just the first step to creating an offense that can work. Step #2, get a proven TE that can make plays. We have that in Walker, and maybe a little bit in Amaro. Step #3, acquire a talented RB, which we did with Murray (and got lucky picking up Henry). So that is fixed. We tried to fix the WR problems with proven vets, but so far that has NOT worked, either due to their lack of speed or lack of respect for MM's arm and ability to hit long balls. The house is being built, one block at a time. There is only so much talent and money available, and we have to also address needs on defense too. Not sure Dodd is going to be worth a 2nd round pick, and we certainly need more help there. Hopefully when we fix the O, they can stay on the field and not only eat up time of possession, but score a lot of points to put pressure on their offense. It's a chess match we aren't winning yet. If we get the needed talent and can't win, then yes, it's time to find a new coach.

Agree with most of the above. However, keep in context that the Vikes were playing with a backup QB. Detroit had like 17 penalties and several TD's erased by them. So one could also argue that if Minny had their starting QB, maybe that game isn't close as their backup QB carved us up quite a bit. Without such ticky tack penalties being called, maybe Detroit doesn't get some of those TD's called back and we get hammered. The Raiders gave up over 500yds offense in their first 2 games but we were on pace for 300!

Penalties are a part of the game. In comparison, do you think we can play a close game against Minny is all of a sudden Cassel had to start? The Pats scored 27 points with their 3rd string rookie QB. That's COACHING!

I agree that chemistry needs time and we desperately need DW and KW back! I also think that once they followed their own recipe - run the d@mn ball - we were more successful. But the fact that using a 4 wr set forced them to spread out and gave Mariota easier reads happened by mistake...is surprising. Teams do that to us all the time. How come we aren't doing that to other teams?

No way Cassel does as well vs. Vikes. Mariota played a great game except for the turnovers. I have no issue with him other than his issues protecting the football. The rest are things I expect to see in an NFL QB in his 14th game.

I think we will see it more. KW should add another dimension as will having Walker back.

Bottom line, Mariota has to play within himself and take care of the ball.

Good to see you posting again, btw. I always enjoyed your viewpoint.

Your coach: MIKE MULARKEY? WHAT THE ****. You weren’t supposed to KEEP him! Holy underwear. What a disaster. I’m not even a Titans fan and I’m angry. As a general NFL fan, I would like all the other teams in the league—especially ones grooming a young quarterback in desperate need of a strong support system—to at least TRY. There is no valid competitive reason to keep this man. His career winning percentage (18-39) puts him behind the likes of Romeo Crennel, Dennis Erickson, Mike Nolan, Bruce Coslet, Rich Kotite, and Jim Tomsula. The only job I’d hire Mularkey for is to play a concerned dad on SVU.
