What is everyone's obsession with McDaniels let alone trying to compare him to Belicheck? Really what has McDaniels done that any other Belicheck OC hasn't done.

So far there has been 8 in the box on majority of plays and the DB's are blanketing our WR's knowing we're not throwing deep. Mariota is throwing into tight coverage and being forced to run when nothing is understandably there. In wide, the DB's are off and seams are open- his strength.

Run the ball in power formations or with a FB set.
Stop all the goofy non-productive excessive RB/TE shifting
Damn TJ- I could go on and on.

I'm only busting balls because no shape, no way, no how should Mularkey be getting a pass on this, HIS, system touted to make it easier for Mariota. It is completely the opposite thus far, even when we had DW in also.

Let's not gloss over the fact that Oakland's D was giving up RECORD yardage and points and we couldn't even get 10 yards on them. You tell me a good bit of that shouldn't be on the coaches? I agree that Mariota should be able to hold to the ball when he does run- that is completely on him. But he shouldn't be stuck in formations where he has to run into the middle of the D because our WR's are smothered and he's trying to get a 1st down any way he can.

I'm admittedly not a football genius. But I am smart enough to know when something isn't working. We're 3 games into this, two brutal home losses. This feels like the same old pattern, lose early games close, then the team tries less, a few soft injuries start coming in and the excuse train to a 3 win season is in full progress.

They've gone out of the spread formation. That's part of Mularkey's scheme.

Done quite a bit. One example is 3rd-and-1 against the Vikes and it got nothing. It worked well on Sunday.

It was effective sometimes when used against the Vikings. I don't see this going on every play and no more than I do one many other teams.

Who is giving Mularkey a pass? Not I. But it oversimplifies the issues when you focus on him as the main reason for offensive struggles when the QB is turning over the ball so much.

BTW, he had three turnovers after three games last season. I guess that means only two is an improvement.

He clearly has an issue and has to get it under control because he's not doing enough positive to offset the mistakes.

They were coming off games against Atlanta and New Orleans who combined for nearly 80 points last night. I think that skews things a bit. They rank #1 and #2 in the NFL.

I get the frustration. I get the Mularkey hate. I'm with you on both. He shouldn't be there to begin with.

The only encouragement I can muster is that the offensive numbers are up (except scoring). They've done it without their #1 WR out all season and best receiver out a game.

BTW, the Titans currently rank 20th in making big plays on offense (runs over 10 yards, passes over 25). Last year, they finished 31st.

The Texans game will tell us a lot. I'm looking forward to seeing the impact of Wright.

Fire the proven failure HC, who is continuing to fail, would be my first step. Obviously it makes little difference at this point. But after the season.

And I still don't even see that happening despite how bad our record may be.

My favorite part about this offense is the amount of plays where I see 7 people blocking and only 3 players running routes with 7 defenders dropped in coverage.

It's obvious this offense is dictated to protect Mariota and not to move the ball or score points.

That in return is screwing up Mariota's growth.

If the season continues to go this way we are about to find out how much power J Rob really has. He can't honestly think Mularkey is the best coach for this team. I don't see AAS firing him after only one season after putting her stamp on him so hard.

They gave Mularkey a 2 year deal right? AAS definitely has a thing for him, but we keep losing, and it has to change. Owners care about money and gain. We are giving neither at that point.

I thought it was 3 years. Could be wrong though.

I just kinda feel like after putting her stamp on him and with it being her first hire since taking over the team, she would view firing him after only year as a major public failure on her part.
