I was perfectly fine with us taking whats expected to be our 3rd edge rusher in Dodd at 33. As xyz pointed out, the 2 OLB's we rely on driving the defense with arent the most durable, so we need to cover our ass with a 3rd guy.

Without an adequate pas rusher on both sides this defense is dead in the water.

Yup, I wanted him as well, and he's looked good in SD.

As for Dodd, I'm not sure what some of you expected. I wasn't expecting him to actually start for a couple years given he's a rotational depth guy for Orakpo and Morgan. He was an insurance policy because the D fell apart after Morgan went down last year. Plus, Orakpo has injury history as well. He'll be fine.

I think that's the point with Dodd at 33

Morgan and Orakpo injury history, we take someone with an injury concern of his own
    Rotational depth guy at 33
Rebuilding team, pick at 33 should be contributing now

I guess we will see, hope he contributes and it's a moot point.

I think Dodd is going to surprise a lot of people around here.

Another empty stat line for a #33 overal guy that was in 15 snaps.

You build through the draft. Zimmer has sparingly used his past 2 #1 picks in year one, and he seems to be doing alright.

You mean the Zimmer we didn't even bother to interview in our extensive head coach search?

And Dodd was in 22% of our D snaps. With zero to show. He was "handled".

Vernon Butler, Robert Nkemdiche, Kenny Clark

all picked ahead of Dodd, none doing jack squat either

its a process, especially when youre being worked in as a backup.

if Dodd was starting Id be down on him, but hes not

Just about the entire front of the defense was handled... even Casey and Orakpo.

There are other picks behind him that are doing something so you're point is moot to me. We should be getting more than we've gotten from the #33 overall pick. That's all I'm saying.
