I do not understand all the hate and criticism of Mariota. The guy has started 19 games in two different systems and is still putting up incredible numbers.

Just for fun I looked up his numbers compared to the media's Golden Boy Andrew Luck through their first 19 games. I think its brings up some interesting points.

    Luck: 399/799 (Att/Comp)/ 55.5% Comp%/ 5,032 yards/ 264.8 YPG/ 7.00 YPA/ 26:19 TD:INT ratio

    Mariota: 369/596 (Att/Comp)/ 61.9% Comp%/ 4,442 yards/ 232.7 YPG/ 7.42 YPA/ 31:16 TD:INT ratio

Is Mariota perfect? Of course not, but he has shown nothing to prove he isn't our franchise QB for the next 12 years.

It should not be shocking. Just look at the site around draft time and see how many first day starters people expect out of each draft class. Like mr Irrelevant, whom some people thought would start and did not even make the team.

These people would have all hated Stafford or Matt Ryan in their first two years... who are MVP caliber players atm.

and both those guys had Pro-Style systems in college. Mariota had a spread option offense and look what he's doing. Imagine what he will do in 3 years.

You cannot compare QB's on two different teams. Way too many intangibles. The other team may run a wide open offense and there is more chance for incompletions or interceptions. You also didn't put up points per game or number of wins, but that too would be wrong to compare.

To oppose your last remark: Mariota has shown nothing to prove he will be our franchise QB for the next 12 years, except he runs fast.

You're right if MM is the coach then mariota won't be the franchise QB. he will go to a franchise that knows what they are doing lmao. since you're so smart, can you tell us what mike is doing for mariota's development as a QB? just one thing.

He is teaching him how to play under center. Something he never had to do at Oregon. He is trying to keep him from getting injured. Remember last year? One minute someone is posting how his stats are better than Luck, then the next post is saying that the staff is inhibiting his growth and development. So which is it?
