WOOOHOOO!! Mariflota's only 2 completions over 30 yards in the air were brought in by miracle diving catches by our WRs, he's the greatest QB of our generation!!!

You completely disregard the part of my statement that he continues week in and week out to overthrow his WRs on passes beyond 20 yards like it isn't an issue, yet you say bring in someone who can run a 4.2?

You blame Mariflota's overthrows on WRs not being fast enough? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. It's a wonder how any QBs complete deep passes because to your theory you just have to be fast enough to catch any ball.

Mularkey/Robiskie are trying to get him comfortable playing under center, to become a more complete QB.

You cannot play QB in this league strictly out of shotgun, especially with our OL and RBs, and after what happened last year.

If Mariflota can't learn how to throw and read defenses under center, it's way more an idictment on him than the coaching staff. He truly is a spread zone-read QB, the kind that never succeed unless you implement their college scheme in that case.

Well- what you're saying is true. But it doesn't excuse the run and strip-sack fumbles. Mariota will NEVER be be above average if he doesn't improve his ball security. And that simply is on him.

Someone is butthurt, I never said mariota was good at them YOU said he couldn't throw that far because he didn't have the strength. because YOU don't know what you're talking about 99% of the time and when you're proven wrong you write about anything else and ignore what you previously said because you can't handle being wrong because you have a noodle brain.

I've never said he didn't have the strength, he continually shows us that he can overthrow his WRs, doesn't that debunk your point?

What I've said is that he has a terrible deep ball, pathetic actually, and he would be better served if he dialed it back at least to give his WR an opportunity to make a play on the ball or get a PI call.

The constant overthrows are a waste of a play and extremely frustrating for anyone that's ever played or coached QBs and WRs

The ball is being thrown to a spot the receiver is supposed to be. When the recievers are as old as the QB's dad, they're probably not fast enough to get to that spot when they are supposed to.

Mariota does need to work on the deep throws for sure... But to act like he should be dropping dimes 40 yards down field to these WRs is pretty real dumb. They hardly get open 5-10 yards down the field, much less out run anyone 20-30 yards down the field.

It's always the WRs fault. I guess Mariflota has been practicing with track guys during practice.

He's not even close to completing his deep passes. How any of you guys can defend that baffles me

You make it sound like he throws long five or more times a game. And he's been doing it FOREVER.

It wasn't until last week that I and the rest of you actually knew he could even go long. Remember just a few weeks back and you were one of them, the posters were concerned about his arm strength? Calling him Noodle Arm and such. Guess what, he blew that out of the water. And it won't be much longer before he debunks your 'Mariflota still miss them' as well.

Honest question: for all those that complain endlessly about Mariota, who would you (realistically) rather have? Who could we have gotten 2 years ago? Winston was off the board. Would we be better off with Mett? Rivers was never coming here. Trevor Siemien (sp) maybe? Osweiler? Wentz perhaps? Can you seriously say with a straight face that any of the other realistic options are hands down better than Mariota? I'm not saying Mariota is perfect; he's got a number of flaws to work on, number one being his turnovers. But damn let's appreciate that we actually have a promising young Qb who's not even 23 yet.

It's pretty real dumb not to understand timing and location on deep balls is practiced. I'd be inclined to put it on our receivers but MM is overthrowing to reduce the chance of an INT. That's why MM has been criticized as playing "too tight". I get he doesn't want a turnover and honestly doesn't likely have confidence in his WRs to win a jump ball. But the responsibility of knowing the timing and location of where to put the ball and the timing and ability of the specific receiver to get there is on him.

I'm less concerned about his deep ball accuracy as I think a speedy/tall WR with good hands will improve MMs deep ball accuracy. But the run and strip sack fumbles HAVE to stop. Those are entirely on him.
