If you evaluated every person on this team, coaches and players, and gave them a rating of 1-10, then threw out anyone below 5, Mularkey would still be here. He may not be THE coach of the future, but he is not the biggest problem we have.

As a loyal and vocal member of the F.A.M.M., (Fans Against Marcus Mariota), I've been hearing a lot of local radio questioning Mariotas ability and Mariotas excuses. Sounds as though, IMO, he's having problems with his college to NFL transition. I also question if he's in the right system.

The system is what almost every NFL team runs - a QB under center. He never did this in college, so I think right now he is overwhelmed and confused at times. Just a question if he can make the leap. Some do, some don't. Many think he has the skillset. I am just waiting to see if he can get there. Those bad misses on short passes bother me the most. With all the other problems we have it's frustrating not knowing if we have a franchise QB or not.

Short passes are his STRONG points.

Especially with trash receivers this year and exactly 0 wr and rb last year.

His excuses are my main beef with him right now.

This is either the 2nd or 3rd time I've heard him say "those missed passes/bad plays are a result of me being lazy with my footwork."

So 2-3 games being lazy is still 2-3 times too much and we are just about to reach the halfway point of the season.

I'm expecting to hear this excuse several more times before the season ends.

I'm now seriously wondering, what's worst? A QB who is lazy when it comes to studying film or the playbook but trying to give 100% on the field, or a QB who apparently gives 100% off the field and during practice but half asses it on Sundays.

I'll go with with the one who half asses it on sundays is worst.

At least the other one has a winning record and shows up when it matters most.

Yes a lot of NFL teams are under center. But not with THIS system. If this was the 90's is agree with you. And almost every NFL team has a better receiving corps than us, 30 team in my opinion.

Here is one of the main reasons this team is losing games: Secondary rank per PFF:
(This is through 6 weeks - it is probably worse now. McCourty gave up a TD last week)

    27. Tennessee Titans (29)
Current nickel package: CB Jason McCourty, CB Perrish Cox, SCB Brice McCain, S Daimion Stafford, S Rashad Johnson

Jason McCourty has bounced back this season and currently sits as the 14th-highest-graded cornerback in the league. He has yet to surrender a score, and has a combined seven pass breakups and interceptions. It has been a lackluster performance from the rest of the secondary, though; Perrish Cox has allowed the seventh-most yards by a cornerback (333) this year, and quarterbacks have a 141.8 passer rating when targeting slot corner Brice McCain. In total, the unit has missed a combined 28 tackles through six games.
