Rolle is a good high-end comparison.

The vocals alone are enough to ruin that hilite reel. I don't see much. A few batted balls that were thrown poorly. A few shoulder chuck tackles. Most of the defending was against losing teams. No better then Peppers, and he's not that great. Pass.

That was an era where CB's were tiny, though. I'm not totally sure Samari would thrive the same way coming into the league now.

He was understood as possibly the best CB in football last year.

He shuts down one side of the field. So it isn't often anyone tests him.

He's not tall, but I think that's an overrated attribute. He sticks guys- so a QB generally isn't going to test that much. Plays tall- good timing on jumps.

He's also really strong vs the run.

    Very Leon Hall.

And as many great DBs as Michigan has had- I think he holds every record for pass break-ups. (season/single game/career/etc)

So that's why his hilite reel is against terrible teams?

Most scouts use 4 games as an absolute minimum. Of course, they usually have seen the guy for 2 seasons, spoken to every coach, trainer, and every important person in their life.

I agree, you need to watch games not highlight reels...very misleading...as can be stats!

I think he's overhyped quite a bit. He's like a lot of good college CB's...they get pretty grabby in college to stay tight but in the NFL they will get called a lot. How he adjusts will make or break him as a player. He can make a nice play on the ball one play and then not look back for the ball on another so he's a bit inconsistent. I also don't think he's as fast as say Adoree Jackson.

He gets a lot of help from Michigan's D getting so much pressure and Stribling (sp?) is no slouch on the other side. He is a good run defender and can play the ball...but will he?

His real size, speed, and athleticism will go a long way towards where he's drafted. I don't think he goes in round 1 but 2-3 a real posiblity.

Samari Rolle was 6', thin, with LONG lanky arms and has very quick hips and speed. He could turn and burn with the best of them so he'd do very well right now if we were drafting him. I think Lewis is shorter and slower, but we'll see!

Samari came into the league at a time when big WRs were the thing

    You have me convinced

Also have to look at his vertical when playing, it is excellent.

And if he has that record that is unreal. That list of Michigan DBs includes the best college DB ever.
