Jon Robinson: “I’d love to have a second-round pick, “That is a sweet spot in the draft, those second-round picks. The first-round picks, it is good to have extras of those, too. You get an extra year on the contract, with a fifth-year option that you don’t get on the other rounds.

“If we can navigate and put ourselves in a position to pick up an extra pick, specifically in the second round, we’ve love to do that.”

This makes me almost convinced about a trade at 5. I can't see Jon sitting out the entire second rd..

Yes and no. To me, he talks about draft CURRENCY which is what I've been bitching about for years! He GETS it!!!

He'd prefer to trade out. But, you need a willing trade partner and only if you can still get one or more players you want. If we have someone rated that highly and he thinks it's worth it to have a hat player over a top 12 pick and a 2nd round pick, he'll stay.

With this draft being seemingly loaded in the areas we need the most, could you guys see us using future picks to gain more this year?

I wonder if we stay at 5 (no willing trade partners? Love a prospect?)... but then deal #18?

Example: Browns offer #33 & #52 for #18. Based off the trade value charts we slightly get the better deal, but CLE walks away Day 1 with the #1, #12, & #18 picks to draft future busts with. We still would have 5, 33, 52, & 2 3rds.

JR said he likes having the 5th year option, he's making it sound like he wants to keep both 1sts

I'm hoping he can find a trade partner to move from 5 to say 8-10, and pcik up a 2nd. Still get a legit WR and CB and really transform this team.

I don't like the Browns example and from JRob's statement I don't think he would either. We would miss out on that 5th yr that you get with the 1st rnd pick with #33. Give me talent over quantity. Only way I move out of #18 would be if some bad team wanted to give us their 1st rnder next yr plus something else...

I expect JRob to trade down one of the 1sts, but for a lower 1st and a 2nd, not trade out entirely.
