Yeah I completely understand that. Even a few years ago I thought he would be more productive has a no. 2 CB. Plus injuries have hobbled him the last couple years. If I had my choice I would cut him and use that money elsewhere though. I think there are better options out there for that money.

McCourty was never a $7 Million CB......Another gem by Webster........ He WAS a solid tackler AFTER the catch. He has never been a guy who challenged WRs for a catch. That said; I really do not want that mentality in our new CBs. So, keeping him for veteran leadership is not a good enough reason to keep him around IMO.

I would rather McCourty be cut to put pressure on JRob & the coaching staff. I really want them to feel the pressure to put a MUCH better secondary on the field. Just cut bait & rebuild completely at the position. It has been needed for a long time.

It's more likely that the team works with him to restructure. DLB & Mularkey like vets at CB. I just do not see them cutting the most experienced CB on the team; even if that is exactly what should happen.

My consideration on keeping him is truly based on how much of a cut he's willing to take.

Jon Robinson won't see the value or performance (injury) worth that much $

This guy is terrible. I always wondered why Sensabaugh played at all and now I know after seeing our secondary play this season.

He hasn't always been terrible. He USED to be a guy you could count on to keep the play in front of him & make a tackle. Which is why he stuck for so long IMO.

However, at this point, he is just not worth keeping around. Injuries are becoming very common; and not small miss one game injuries. He struggles to keep the play close to him. He had a problem this year getting caught using his hands too much. I know several will say he was not flagged that much for P.I. but he got away with several. He also got caught on a few that were HUGE yardage plays, that really made no sense to get flagged on. The two I remember the ball was not going to be caught P.I or not. The one thing that was always good about him was you could count on a tackle after the catch was made; now he is missing plenty of those tackles. He has never been one to challenge for the ball.

It's just time to move on from him. Unless he is willing to take a HUGE pay cut to be veteran depth. However, I would not be happy about him starting. He should only see the field if there is injury to the new & hopefully MUCH improved starters.

He may stick just for injury insurance TBH. Not at his current pay rate of course.

Getting as many new players in the secondary as we REALLY need is going to take a large investment. Players from FA & the draft will have to contribute. So JMac may be back just as an insurance policy. Some one who can play if a starter is injured; that already knows the defense & needs few practice reps. That is the only way I could see him being back.

I'd talk to him about a re-structure before flat out releasing him. We aren't hurting for the money

There's almost no chance he's starting, so you'd pay $7M as a GM knowing he's making twice what your best CBs are?

    That's just bad business

    JR ain't about bad business
