Either of those three would instantly amplify our scrub secondary....

Coupled with hopefully signing AJ or Stephen.

I want no part of Lattimore at 5. This year's crop of CBs is extremely deep. Give me one of the UF corners or Sydney Jones later in the 1st (or potentially in the 2nd if we can pick up a 2nd rounder). At 5, I'm taking either Adams, Williams, or possibly even an elite talent like Allen or Garrett if for some reason either one of those guys fell. Trading back would also be ok.

Sydney Jones will not be able to play the physicality level we want... Marlon Humphrey is horrendous and better suited for S, King is a S, Teez Tabor is not a TeamFirst guy by any means, and Quincy Wilson is a horrid tackler - and is my bust alert...

who does that leave? TreDavious White, Marshon Lattimore, Gareon Conley, and then you start to dab into the middle of 2nd rd prospects....

Marshon Lattimore is the most complete cornerback, ready to go, ready to start #1, day one.... best hips in the draft, good press, great recovery speed, good in zone.... and the one thing that makes him better than anything we have alone... he can get his head around....

Lattimore will be BPA and NEED selection.... as was Jack Conklin last yr?

plus there is a major field of cornerback needy teams from 6-13. So the assumptions we're going to have 'pick choice of any cb we want' is absolutely wrong.

So far from my studying of last years secondary using All22 (on week 3) - We arnt really using the fire zone that DLB is known for. You don't have to have aggressive Cbs when you are just matching up m2m with WRs. Jones would fit in that manner because he covers just fine.

Humphery has turn and run issues which would be rough to expect him to fit with the current defense. High high high upside tho if a team can fix his technical issues because he's going to fly at the combine. Olympic level athlete apparently.

King is a C2 trail/under Corner who attacks what's in front of him or a C3 guy using bail tech so he also doesn't have to turn and run. He could also fit as a big nickel strong safety. Again about the scheme with him.

Teez is out. Character flaws. Will not pass go, will not collect pick 18.

Wilson is a better physical m2m corner and quite sticky in coverage even tho I don't think he's all that fast. If we still with the C1 Man looks he actually fits just fine because he's going to be 10-15 yards down the field on run plays anyways. You're not asking him to click and close and make tackles.

Cbs in general arnt blocked because they suck at tackling. Block safeties not corners. Rule of thumb.

@Broken Arrow, I disagree with pretty much all that. I don't view Lattimore as significantly better than the others and he has injury concerns. And not sure where you're getting the Humphrey hate from, but he's pretty much viewed just as highly (or higher) as Lattimore from basically every source. The highest upside among all the CBs.

I'll gladly take Adams, Williams, Garrett, or Allen at 5 or trade down.

PSA: Lattimore is the clear and cut CB1 in this class.

Obviously you don't watch film then. Humphrey has probably the worst hips out of all CBs... he gets beat ALOT... but he's good in the run game, which is why I say he'd do better for his career at S. So no, he is not Lattimore by any means. Latt has the fastest hips in the draft. and is the only corner with 'it all' where as every other one of your so called 'lot of options' has either one, or two aspects and is missing a vital component.

Humphrey sucks. He has BWW ball and tracking skills. He's just lucky he's an Olympic athlete at hurdles and he barely had to cover because the dline and linebackers wrecked havoc. Williams muscled him all game in the NC and Humphrey just tried to face guard.

Kinda makes me hope Williams drops to 18.

Probably be an interesting Hard Knocks session w/ the competition.

At 18 I'm OK with it. Gives us a box out red zone target and he moves CB easy in the run game. If he ever commits to cleaning up his routes he could be a healthy Jeffrey/Benjamin type weapon.
