I think Barnett, Thomas and Allen are definitely in play.

I agree with you 100% Kenny. I think we definitely still need CB/S help, and I'm betting JRob attacks that in the 3rd. I think DE is highly in play and early...They need to get consistent pass rush, which will help our secondary too..Add a DE and Dodd comes back healthy, and suddenly, you have depth and fresh legs.

I agree Xhrr...I think if Thomas or Allen fall to 5, that is who we are taking (IMO)..I think they are looking at Taco and Barnett because those guys are more likely to be around later if those 2 go before 5.

I think they have to be in play. The positions have become so important in the game today......The league has become so pass oriented, a pass rush is something that cannot be overrated IMO. Not only does a good pass rush hurt a QB's confidence; it helps the entire defense.

A good pass rush just changes the game. It helps the secondary in a big way. Teams with a consistent pass rush & DECENT DBs seem to always have more INTs. After a QB takes a sack it get's into so many of their heads. Hurried throws almost always end bad.

Orakpo & Morgan really played well this year. They just were not consistent enough IMO. They had games where they really stood out & games where they simply disappeared. We really need Dodd or some one else to step up there.....And Jones has really not been a pass rush threat at all. An upgrade at DE would be big for our pass rush.

Don't hold your breath on Dodd. Pins in his foot, one year wonder and bad attitude. Bust pick. I'd like to know if JRob really was behind that pick or if he threw the prior scouting staff a bone by taking him.

Near zero production out of a #33 overall pick is bad. REALLY bad results from a new GM. There is a definite spin not to mention what a bad result that pick has been. Especially with should have easily been a discoverable injury.

Yeah, if Dodd can even come in and be above average, it will help a great amount.

Yea I have big reservations about Dodd........The fact that Mularkey was willing to put him on IR with him being essentially recovered worries me. Especially considering how lacking in depth we are at the position. Mularkey tried to put a positive spin on it at the end of the season. However, it really seemed like he was very frustrated with his effort. That is a bad sign for a rookie IMO.

I agree that his injury seemed to be over looked or under estimated. Possibly they were fooled by Dodd. You know he most likely told them it is not a big deal, I have been playing with it......However, you would think the team would use better judgement for such a high pick. He was basically a 1st round pick IMO. When you spend the 33rd pick on a guy; you have to be expecting that guy to contribute right away.

You can't win them all.. Every team in the league whiffs on picks. He didn't seem like a bad pick at the time, and he played well in his lone start.

It's ridiculous for people who were watching a 2 and 3 win team just a couple of years ago to expect guys selected in the second round or later to immediately play to their potential. Derrick Morgan and Taylor Lewan were even selected in the first half of round 1 in their respected drafts and had a rough first couple of years, only to become high-level players afterwards.

As a GB fan, I can tell you that 99% guys selected at the tail-ends of round 1 and afterwards absolutely do not come out able to contribute at a high level right away, unless they are in a rotational role, which nearly everyone drafted by TEN was- even the 7th rounders. I'd consider that a massive success. So let's please stop complaining about one pick made by a GM who completed one of the more successful Year 1 turnarounds in recent memory.
