Yes, because of the depth at DB in this draft, I would not be surprised at all if only Lattimore goes in the top 17. Teams will be more likely to hold off at CB due to this depth.

Not to mention, I believe both Trubisky and Watson (and possibly even Mahomes) may go in the top #20 pushing players down the board.

I strongly believe that only 1 or 2 CBs will be gone when we pick at #18.

And, if for some reason 3 CBs are gone before #18, I believe that will push Davis down to us.

Let's get him at 5 if need be and Butler for the 18th. We gotta have a legit WR for MM. Let MM and Davis take time to heal and get to know each other. We can have a top 5 offense, and our WR group will finally be worth a damn.
As for trading the 18 for Butler, I don't see any CB in the draft that would be better than Butler against Oakland on Week 1. It's an upgrade, and we need to think upgrades. We have money to extend him after the year is up. Just think, we would have NE's starting CBs from last year's SB Team.

Did you guys watch the NFL Network's Mock Draft Live: Draft Week Special tonight in which several of the draft experts/analysts mocked the first round?

Guess what happened? The Titans ended up getting Adams at #5 and Conley at #18. Conley was still there (as he is in several mocks I've seen online). So it's not absurd to think that he'll be there after all.

Also, did you hear what Ike Taylor said about Marshon Lattimore? This is a direct quote:

"No disrespect to Lattimore, but he had a lot of hamstring injuries. So, when you have a lot of hamstring injuries in college you'll have a lot of hamstring injuries in the NFL. You know, hamstring injuries are like hibernating bears!"

This is coming from a guy that played CB for 12 seasons in the NFL. So, to hear that coming from a guy like him, makes me feel like my concerns with Lattimore are legit.

I like Lattimore and wish him the best, but if we end up taking the kid at #5 and he never completes more than one season in the NFL, I'm going to be pissed and will be here telling you guys I told you so!

If we do take him (or even if we don't) and he plays several seasons without the hamstrings being an issue, then, by all means, toot your own horn as well.

Maybe I'm completely wrong, but I just have a really bad feeling about the kid.

I think the best reason really is that you have to give up high draft capital AND big money. If he turns out to be just a system player or he doesn't fit your system, that's a double whammy for the GM to swallow. Heck, we wouldn't even give Bouye $10mil/yr with no draft pick necessary. Are we gonna give up a late 1st for a guy who's gonna want $13-17mil/yr?

I think that's why teams don't want to give up a high pick for him (in a loaded cb draft) and then give up the cash/cap.

Butler's a very good player and as long as you understand his limitations, you can keep him a pro bowl player. The flip side is...are all those better athletic cb's gonna be as good or better than Butler? Probably not!

As ive said. I'll be happy with whoever we draft as long as we dont take a DL.... Or reach for a WR a 5.

But ive done my homework on lattimore and I stand by it until then.

Hooker excels at playing deep cf in either c1, c3, man free and probably 2 deep though he hasn't really done that yet. Anywhere he can read and break on the ball an use his excellent range, instincts and hands.

I didn't compare Hooker's injuries to Lattimore - especially since Lattimore isn't injured. What I said was that it is a concern when a player starts for a year and has to have 2 different surgeries afterwards....and he plays deep middle so it's not like he has full contact every play.

Could Lattimore's hammy's cause him problems in the future? Yes. Can Hooker pull his hammy and have problems? Yes.

    I pick Lattimore.

Mainly cause CB is our biggest need, and if his hamstrings are still ****, at least Kevin Dodd will have a friend to talk to in the rehab room.

I have it taped. Didn't watch it yet. Where's the spoiler alert man?!?!? lol

These 'experts' are funny. I watched the one where the Titans offered Cleveland one of their own picks because McShay, Polian, Mark and whoever else didn't pick up on that! Funny! I don't put much stock into these mocks more than any other well reasoned mock.

Could they be right? Absolutely. Some team(s) usually makes a dumb move! But is it likely Conley makes it to 18? I don't think so. A lot of teams have Conley as the 2nd cb in the draft...so if they think like you do that they wouldn't take Lattimore due to his hammy's, doesn't that mean Conley could be the first cb off the board? There's at least 7 teams that need or want a cb. And remember, there are teams within range to jump ahead of us at 18 to grab Conley is he's still there at 16.

I think it very unlikely Conley makes it to 18. On the other hand, if you're looking for one of a certain group of players to be available at 18 (Conley, Davis, Williams, Howard, Njoku, blah blah blah), you'll probably find one to three of them available...but you won't get to fully choose the player or position.

As I said before. Medicals is done by the medical staff. If they greenlight JRob to take Lattimore at 5 or 10, it's on them. If they tell him the risk is to great in round 1 for us and someone else takes him and he never has an issue with it, that's also on the medical staff.

All players are risks. If you make the best decision you can at the time, what happens...happens! If we take Conley and someone else takes Lattimore and Conley tears up his hammy and can't play anymore and Lattimore is fine for a long NFL career, it's not a ha-ha I told you so moment for me. Injuries happen. But you somehow think a guy who just played 14 games in college without a problem will never complete a single NFL season. That doesn't make sense to me. Hamstrings can be a recurring injury, but that doesn't mean it will recur all the time. Like other issues with other players, it would have to be managed!

If Jaylon Smith comes back and becomes a star LB in the NFL, I'm not gonna say hey, we were stupid not to take him. To me the medical risk was way too great to take him there. If they get a great LB for their huge gamble, good for them. I wouldn't take that risk cuz 9 times out of 10 you lose that one.

But it's up to our medical staff to leave, alter, or nullify a grade on any players due to medical. So if we don't look at Lattimore or Ross or any other medical issue prospect, it's fine. That's their call. Just like if Amy decides that Mixon doesn't belong on our draft board no matter how good he is, I'm fine with that.

I'm no so much into making people eat crow. I'm more interested in the Titans winning a Super Bowl!!!

Well it's gonna be one of the more interesting first rounds because of the intrigue of where the QB's go (and how many) and OL too and then you have all the medical/character issue guys. The problem in the draft is almost any player we might take at 5 (except maybe Adams or Allen) could be there at 18...or none of them. CDavis, MWilliams, JRoss, Foster, Lattimore, Conley, Howard, Hooker, etc. The problem is, if people are gonna stay away from Ross, you'd need the 2nd best cb or the 2nd best wr to not go in the first 17 picks. I think Ross has a better chance of ending up late in the first or falling into the 2nd. If people stay away from Latt, it's unlikely Davis and Conley make it to 18.

Not impossible, but unlikely Id guess. I think if we do start seeing qb's and 3 rb's go, we might luck out. On the other hand, I think there is a very real possibility we trade back from 18 because there a few teams poised behind us who need OT's and there are precious few in this draft. So we could end up trading back as far as the mid-20's which would kill our chance at Conley or Davis even if they both made it to 18.

One of the nice things about trading back from 5-12 and picking up 33 is that we are less needy to take a specific position at 12 and 18. As I said, there will be some good players to take, we just won't know if it's a wr, cb, te, s, lb or whatever.
