Very good point about 5 being high for a TE, and I'd usually agree. The only issue in this years draft for me is that I just don't really see anyone at the skill positions standing head and shoulders above other players at their position. Fournette is pretty much the only back worthy of a top 10 pick - but we don't need a RB, no one can agree on the best WR, much less where they should go, there's more DB's in this draft than you can shake a stick at, so why reach, and all the pass rushers at #5 have issues with fit or health or other problems.

OJ just seems to me like the safest bet, with the most upside, highest floor, and is the best fit for need and scheme.

But totally agree that J-Rob would have to have a colossal melt down to really bone this up. The two 1st rounders and two 3rd's in a class this deep should bring us one helluva haul, regardless of a trade.

Don't think OJ is head and shoulders above the rest of the TEs. He's just a freak physically. There are plenty of very good tight ends this year, that had similar if not better production

5th overall is way the hell overpriced for a TE...

I wouldn't take any of the best TE's in the league (on a do-over even) at 5 --- Olsen, Gronk, Walker, Kelce, Eifert --- NONE at five, maybe not even Top 10. It's a separate issue, but there's a reason TE's don't go first round in Fantasy Football... lol

Lattimore all day - and when/if his hamstrings are a dead and gone issue - there's going to be some apologizing pricks in here lol

I've been flipping back and forth between what I want the Titans to do at 5. First and foremost I'd prefer for them to trade back. If that doesn't happen I'd prefer someone like Solomon Thomas, OJ Howard, or even Foster. I'm skeptical about taking a corner at #5 in this draft because it seems to me that it wasn't until just recently Lattimore became the top corner by many analysts. Why did it take so long for people to settle on him? If this was a case of Joe Haden or Patrick Peterson where people knew they were going to be great, I'd be all for it. It just doesn't seem to be the case. I could be wrong though.

Everyone says this is a deep DB draft so why use our first pick on a deep position when there doesn't seem to be a can't miss elite corner? I understand we desperately need a #1 type cornerback, I just don't think Lattimore is a surefire option. Will I be disappointed if we take Lattimore at 5? Absolutely not. I just think it's the riskier option.

Just think if we take Howard, our offense will be set at QB, both tackle positions, TE, and possibly RB for the next 8-10 years. I'd be happy with that.

Watch his tape, hip movement, recovery speed & overall speed (4.36), plays the ball in the air extremely well, is the best on a island corner in the draft (the type of corners wanted last yr and didn't have) and is definitely not afraid of run support.... Several analysts had him to us in the Top 10 and still first CB off the board since December -- if he declared. More people got on board after they dived more into his tape, and finally his 40 which was very impressive considering Mayock and etc. were calling him to only run 4.44

He was far and away the easiest scout this season. Don't really think many people doubt what he can do... when healthy

Jon Robinson traded up last year to take a RT at number 8 and some of you are still worried about positional value and thinking he wouldn't make this selection.

The reasoning for Howard over Lattimore:

-The CB position is more talented and much deeper than the TE position. Yes, there are some good TE prospects available later on but the gap from Howard to the next tier is much bigger than Lattimore to the others. There is a very good chance the Titans will have some nice CB prospects available at 18 if they choose to go that route.

-Considering I'm not the biggest fan of the top tier WRs (Williams seems limited to doing a couple things really well, Ross injury issues, Corey Davis nagging injuries and showing nothing during draft process), Howard is my top ranked player available that could be the biggest help to Mariota immediately and in 10 years. I'm totally on board with getting one of the best TE prospects ever and pairing him with our pro bowler and having a version of Gronk/Hernandez for the next couple of years.

-I'm not just viewing Howard as a TE. We can line this guy up anywhere. He's a true 3 down TE that can block, pass protect, be a security blanket a couple yards past the LOS, or go deep. He's big in YAC and is a match up nightmare. He also fits the definition of "exotic smashmouth" perfectly, which is something we're still going for apparently. Everyone keeps saying we need to get Mariota another weapon, that doesn't necessarily have to be a WR. I would say having Howard on this team would be a bigger impact than one of the WRs right out of the gate.

-Finally, this is a safer play. I'm not saying the Titans should draft scared. We're coming off a 9-7 season that basically no one outside of Titans fans (and even then...) could have predicted. The last thing I want the Titans to do is select a CB who has hamstring issues and has only 1 year of experience. We can't draft a bust at 5 at this stage. Not only is Howard a safe play but he's worthy of a top pick because of our offense and our situation. In a vacuum, I say no to a TE going this high. Howard on this team? Absolutely.

Oh and if we're still hung up on position value. Over the last 10 years, a CB has only gone in the top 5 twice. That includes Jalen Ramsey, who was considered the best prospect last year, going 5th overall.
