Especially if we don't move in the first and ignore CB. By the time our 3rd rolls around all the Day 1 playing time guys should all be drafted. Trading up is always an option, but we don't have a ton of ammo, just our picks.

Like 2013 and 1997, we did the same thing. We needed a CB but did not take one until the third round.

The need was not immediate in 2013, however it screwed us for 2014 as the third round CB we took in 2013 sucked. The third round CB we took in 1997 ended up being really good however it did take some time. By the time he was able to contribute the season was mostly over. Though it did set up the secondary nicely for the next few years.

I have a feeling this is what we'll do. Grab an offensive playmaker in Davis, Williams, Ross, or Howard.. then with the other first find a defensive playmaker. If that ends up being a CB, great, but can't imagine J'Rob reaching just to fill a position.

First, no kidding. That was a joke for the word better.

Second, just like everyone else has also followed with, our pass rush wasn't that big a problem, if anything it was the only respectable part of the defense. Maybe if that league worst secondary could cover anyone for another second, the pass rush we have could get to the QB.
Upgrading the pass rush without upgrading the secondary (exactly what this draft suggests) is a huge mistake and ultimately leaves this defense in the same position it was last year, not good.

I expect whoever is picked at CB to take some time to adjust, its the nature of the position.

At the end of the year we need CB to be settled tho.

Some of you that are upset about us taking Williams when Davis is still there have a valid concern. As I said in my opening post, I too would much prefer Davis over Williams. I've always been of that mind since this whole pre-draft stuff started. As I've stated in other posts, I watch a lot of Clemson (seeing as I live in SC and they're always on). The lack of separation with Williams really worries me as the level of competition he'll consistently face in the NFL will only get bigger and faster -- and it appeared to also be a real concern for Bill Polian, as he complained about it and commented on how the Titans would be better off taking Davis.

I think the majority of us here would prefer Davis, but you guys commenting, "this isn't a good 1st round, we took Williams", are kind of missing the point of what I was getting at, which is that 2 of the big 3 WRs were still on the board, which a lot of us thought would more than likely not be the case and that the big 3 WRs would all be off the board by #18.

Also, it's interesting when you consider that the picks made in this mock draft were done by reporters/analysts who are paid to report on their respective teams! Now I'm not saying that all these guys/gals will be making the exact pick their teams will make come Thursday, but one would think these reporters have a pretty good idea of what the team they report on might do.

If anything, the more mock drafts I see, especially by people (or groups of people) that are in the know shows that we should be able to hit two key areas of need in this draft while still getting two premiere talents at the same time.

Now I'm sure some of you might say, "Well, duh!", but I'll speak for myself in saying I have seriously been worried for some time now that round 1 in this draft will not go our way and we'll be stuck reaching for someone at #18 because everyone we were hoping to get at #18 is off the board.

And, for those of you disappointed with the fact that this draft has us taking Allen at #5 is also understandable. It's not ideal IMHO either. I like Allen, but the arthritic shoulders do scare me somewhat, so I'd prefer Adams, Hooker or Howard over Allen, which is where I believe the Titans will be more likely to go on Thursday.

If we do not take one in the first then we should take two in the third to have a backup plan in case one does not work out.
