I do believe the defense will improve. Besides, our special teams and offense should both be improved pretty drastically. Team should be much better overall. That's the idea.

The reality is, we went 9-7 last year with a swiss cheese secondary, and got better after releasing a starter in December. Our team has improved over the last 2 days, alot. Adding the offensive pieces we added, cant be overlooked in how much it improved our team as a whole. Certainly we could have drafted Jamal adams and Marshone lattimore back to back, and we would have been going nuts, then all been disappointed when 2 rookies in our secondary didnt turn us into the 85 bears defense.

We drafted pieces last year that have developed, we drafted a solid CB in the 1st round. We brought in a top free agent CB. Our secondary is improved, and the players in the secondary who are now more experienced will improve. Byard, simms, will play better next year than last year.

The team as a whole is in better position next september than it was last september. The secondary will be better. Its by no means done, next year we need to continue to add pieces, but our offense over the next 5 years will become special.

If we went 9-7 with the secondary we had last year, we can go 11-5 with the secondary we will have next year. Like with everything else, we need our QB to take us there, not our CB3 or SS.

So you are assuming he becomes a Hall of Fame returner like Hester? Possible, but since we don't have a lot in the CB room, if he doesn't play well for us at cb, it's not a good pick. You can get an excellent returner in rounds 4-7...not the 18th best player in the draft. Ryan Switzer is an excellent slot wr AND a great pr and went in round 4. So why would we want a mediocre cb who is an excellent returner in round 1. And that's not a nock on Adoree because I think he has the upside to be a GREAT cb, but if he ONLY becomes a returner, it will be considered a wasted pick unless he DOES become a Hall of Fame returner.

Biggest weakness coming into the offseason was secondary. We signed Ryan, Cyprien, and drafted Jackson. We have lost no players on defense that were any good (only McCourty was even close to a starting caliber player), and added 3 guys who immediately improve our defense. But somehow our defense is not any better.

    Totally awesome logic....

Davis can beat Jesus on slant routes, and he will beat Moses on a deep post. If you all didn't know by now, Corey Davis is God's favorite WR!

Not at all. If you re-read my post. I said "Not saying he will match this production". It's obviously rare to have that kind of talent in special teams. My point was mostly that we could clearly use the upgrade at special teams and considering the lack of impact on that side of the ball over the last decade+ I'm totally fine with them picking a player that they feel as though may address that need.

But I don't think he has to become a HoF to be considered a not wasted pick. Mostly because how awful we have been in special teams.

In any case, I can see your point as well. Either way time will definitely tell how this shakes out. I for one definitely wanted them to address defense as much as possible.

    You're a little off.

Revis was listed at 5'11 (though he's really 5'10+) and 204lbs. I worked with a guy who was roomates with Revis and he would laugh when they listed Revis at 6' in media guides since he's a bit under 5'11.

Adoree is 5'10 and 186lbs. Revis was stronger and heavier.

Another important piece to the defense some of you guys are forgetting, Dick Lebeau.

Lebeau can bring the best out of his players and knows how to put them in a position to succeed. His defenses are usually top in the league and he hasn't build them on top draft picks. As long as he has they type of guys that fit his defenses I think he'll elevate them to produce. Not saying we're going to be a top 10 D this year but I seriously doubt that we'll be worse. I'm confident we'll be better.
