He excels intermediate, and his reads are among the quickest I’ve ever seen in my years of evaluating football.

Marcus Mariota is a special talent, one that has evolved into one of the best quarterbacks in the league. He may be stereotyped as a running QB, but he is practically immortal as a pocket passer.

Mariota is on track to becoming one of the best players in the NFL. He just needs to cut down on his fumbles and take the Titans to the playoffs.

"By the time next season is over, he'll be viewed as a top-five quarterback," an AFC coach told bleacherreport.com. "Maybe even top three or four. "

"I think he can be a great, front-line Pro Bowl quarterback in the league, I don't have any doubts about that if he can stay healthy and they can add a few pieces to their receiving corps," Gruden told bleacherreport.com. "He just has all the intangibles and all the qualities I am looking for personally."

Mariota took promising strides in 2016. Not only was Mariota able to build on his already impressive accuracy to all levels of the field, but he turned some of his weaknesses into legitimate strengths. Throughout his tenure at Oregon, and his rookie year in the NFL, Mariota showed a resistance to throwing into tight windows. He had the talent to do it, but often chose to dump the ball off or take matters into his own hands rather than test those windows. 2016 spotlighted a new Mariota.

I hope so. I also hope that stereotype of a running qb proves to be completely false. We do not need him sitting on IR. The only running he needs to be doing is running our offense.

Brady, Manning, and Rodgers are going to fall out (One obviously already is)

It will be Mariota, Carr, and Winston -- I would say Dak is in there, but I have a strong feeling he's going to hit the slump this yr..... same with Zeke - Todd Gurley 2.0

I wouldn't put Mariota in the "running QB" category. He uses his legs at times and I would even say sometimes he doesn't move around or run enough at times. I think he (or coaches) have made it a point to develop him as a pocket passer who can run when needed.

That being said, year 3 with a (potentially) loaded offense. If he can stay healthy, this should be his year to shine.

He's done very well for going through 2 different offenses and not having a lot of weapons. Now the o-line is much better and he should have more options as a passer also. Could be in for a hell of a year.

If Mariota doesnt succeed this year, it's on him...He has weapons galore and a great offensive line. The only thing that may hurt him, would be our defense getting us behind again...Especially since we are a run first team. We have way more athleticism and skill at WR, TE, and in our secondary this year, so hopefully that helps get us over the hump.
