I never said Montana was the best. If I'm starting a franchise from scratch, I'm picking Aaron Rodgers, and it's really not close. If people want to penalize a guy with the highest QB rating of all time for having a horrific defense which blows things in the playoffs each year, and give all credit to QBs with great defenses for their wins, then so be it. But that's idiotic, IMO

You take any of the top qbs in recent years and put them in that system and they would have the same success. Brady didn't make the system , the system made Brady.

If Peyton hadn't won that SB against Rex Grossman... Brady and Manning would've been this era's Montana and Marino.

Right. He's a great QB in a great system. Manning and Rodgers were consistently considered the best QBs in the league (people are very fickle) even during Brady's prime, then Malcolm Butler makes a clutch interception in the SB, and all of a sudden Brady is GOAT. There are many QBs who have better playoff QB Ratings than Brady with much fewer rings. Defense winning championships is no joke.

Easiest answer for me is, substitute Montana for Brady and Brady for Montana. Would Brady accomplish the same things playing during that era for the 49ers and would Montana accomplish the same things playing for NE during this era?

Brady puts his team in a position to win and you say because Malcolm butler saves the day, it was all defense. Maybe the defense does their job earlier and NE blows out Seattle. Every SB winning team needs both offense and defense, having a good QB helps big time, but you're right that defense wins championships. Outside manning' second SB win, Dilfer is the worst QB to ever win.

You keep arguing Brady is not the best, who is? I don't think there's a legitimate case for anyone but Montana. He was 4-0 with zero INTs in any SB and maybe based on competition of his era.
Playoff rating is about as worth while to argue as 40 time. He's played enough playoff games to out play most QBs careers.
