I would like to see Mariota average around 36 passes per game. He averaged 30 or 31 laster year.

I really hope they open it up cause Mariota is far from a rookie now.

Just putting this in context but locker hadn't put in a full season till his fourth year.

It's kinda hard for some people to see but we do have a franchise QB. Might have took ten years to get but Let's put the ball in his hands

Matt Ryan and Tom Brady both thrive in a system like ours, plays may look different, but the play calling is very very similar in terms of run pass ratio

    50/50 works

I like balance, but I'm not going to complain when or game plan is to either cram it down their throats in the run game or toast them through the air 40-50 times a game.

Either way biggest thing for me is that there is no need for us to be conservative on early downs or if we have a big lead.

Look at the improvement in Walker since Mularkey came around. Or did he just wait until his 9th season in the league to start playing at that level?

    1. Went to a small school and needed a few years to adjust.
    2. Got stuck behind Vernon Davis.
    3. Was, at best, the fourth option in San Fran with Davis, Crabtree, and Gore.
    4. Played in Whiz's offense his first year here with two bad QBs(Locker and Fitz).
    5. Played in Mularkey's offense, which emphasized the TE position, on a team that had no legitimate WRs.

But I'm sure it was Mularkey's expertise coaching tight ends that made Walker better in Tennessee.

Really though, that is basically considered "run heavy" in today's NFL. We were 3rd in the league in rush play percentage.

Walker's Ypc increased by nearly 5 yards to 14 YPC in his first year with Mularkey. If a TE is averaging 14 YPC, it's not because the receivers suck. He was actually getting open for quality receptions, and the fact that he did it with such a weak supporting class is even more indication that he improved.

He was the high volume, low yield player that you are describing in year 1 here without Mularkey, but obviously became a bigger receiving threat after he came along.
