I'm not going to waste my time citing anything to prove why....it goes beyond just "liking him" although you should try that part of it.

Why Cousins can't get a long term deal if he's so good?
Eli blows, he's lucky his name is Manning, didn't even make the top 100 so obviously it goes beyond me thinking he's not good.
    Bradford? Come on now.

You're the one wanting to compare stats and then cherry picking what you want and leaving out pass attempts. So we should just forget the 150 pass attempt disparity? Hell mariota wouldn't even have to throw a touchdown he'd just have to throw for HALF his avg/att but yanno, that would be an unrealistically LOW projection and we should just throwout the extra pass attempts because that would destroy your bias statistical comparisons, if you can even call them that.

sorry but more attempts = more yards and yes likely more touchdowns, crazy how that works isn't it?
It's funny because if the tables were flipped and mariota threw for 600 attempts while palmer and manning only threw for 450 you'd say "Well, mariota needed 150 more attempts to only throw for 500 more yards...." this would be a staple in your argument.

How about QBR? seems like this doesn't support your argument either, like at all and it's likely you won't reply to it above or you'll just do what you usually do and say oh well now we can't compare THIS season... now we have to compare Eli and Palmers BEST seasons to Mariota.

How about the redzone? yanno that part of the field that matters the most? Mariota took one of the worst receiving cores and put our team at #1 at TD scoring %. Probably not important enough to list because it doesn't support anything you have to say.

Lets just ignore everything that doesn't fit your narrative and then we will have a perfect comparison between palmer eli and mariota. Genius as usual.

Also if you don't want to deal with "hypotheticals" of having an additional 150 attempts we can take mariota and eli manning's first 450 attempts.

    450 attempts
    Manning
    22 TDs, 2841 12INT

    Mariota
    26 TDs, 3426 9INT

    any questions?

But for fun if we projected an extra 150 pass attempts for Mariota his stats would look like this 4566 yards 34 TDs 11 INTS. Can we expect those numbers this year?

You can't expect those numbers because we likely won't throw 500 times, let alone 600. Would be interesting to see what he would do with 600 attempts and this years weapons though. 4k and 30TDs would be a pretty dang good season with our offensive strategy. What mariota did on 450 attempts was a great year and nearly maximized production with our limited receiving core. Put a guy like corey davis in there who can actually get some YAC and his yardage should go up a decent amount game by game. Mariota's yardage is pretty raw, not much YAC padding like manning and palmer with OBJ and David Johnson.

I'd take Eli and Palmer over Mariota.

    ...If it was 2009.

Not a Mariota homer either. But i like his game. I'm not sure if he's top 10, but I'd take him over those 2 for sure.

I will be disappointed if Mariota isn't in the 500-600 range in passing attempts with all the resources we put into improving the passing game. 5th overall pick on a WR, trading up in the 3rd for another, drafting a receiving TE in the 3rd, and signing Eric Decker. It isn't too far fetched. As I mentioned Mularkeys past when it comes to getting new weapons for a QB, passing attempts sky rocket.

When players grade closely? Yeah, I'm definitely giving the one with more achievements and accomplishments the nod over the other.

    I'd say that's pretty common.

Cousins almost had 1,500 more passing yards than Mariota. At a higher completion %. Isn't hard to look at both and say Cousins is the better passer.

Had a higher passer rating than Mariota, also.

And... all these dudes, other than Palmer (played 15) finished the season. Something Mariota can't seem to do.

Bradford (played 15 games) had more yards and a higher completion % by 10%. Also had a higher QBR than Mariota.

At some point you guys have to realize why you're giving Mariota the nod over these guys.

    1. You see a name and think "psshhh that guy hasn't ever been that good"
    2. You watch Mariota every Sunday and have a bias.

And you're right- these dudes aren't great. Neither is Mariota.

So to clear the air all those guys you listed you would rather have over Mariota?

Or trade Mariota for the 11-15 or 16 you named?
