I mean listen..If he holds out for a short time, it won't kill us...Joey Bosa anyone?! That said, you're a rookie...and from a small school drafted at #5. Be thankful. Don't get caught up on the bs. These rookies are an absolute crapshoot and the demands keep getting crazier. I haven't read nor do I care about the fine print, but I'm betting this gets done soon.

We could look at things the other way too.

The team had enough confidence to draft him number five overall, but wants to protect itself with offset language in case he isn't good.

Yeah, I can't blame anyone for not wanting to pay for something they're not using. If a player isn't good enough to stick on a team past 3 years, why should they pay for a 4th year while another team is also paying the player to play for them?

Teams rip up contracts if players don't play well, players want bigger contracts as soon as they have a good year or 2.

Point being, NFL contracts are hardly ever black and white and usually don't play out as written anyway.

Then draft better players? If you have the conviction to draft him then have the conviction to pay him.

This isn't like the Titans took some guy at the end of the first round that had a murky first round grade. They took someone who they thought was, at the very worst, the fifth-best player in the draft and the very best WR.

Just because they thought he was a good player they should have to pay him to play for another team if he doesn't play as they thought?

At the end of the day, the player gets the money either way. Without offset language, they get to get paid by 2 teams for one season of work.

If you call a plumber but all he does is comes in and takes a dump, clogging the ****ter even worse but goes to the neighbors and unclogs their ****ter would you feel compelled to pay him for unclogging their ****ter?

    Don't draft ****** players.

Do you know how bad a guy has to be as a first round pick to be released from his original team before four years? The only thing Chance Warmack had going for him was health, while his performance was ass, and he stayed here for four years.

By my count, which could be wrong because I only glanced at it, three guys in the 2013 first round were outright released from their original teams before their rookie deals were up. Some were traded, but that is a different issue.

If the Titans are that afraid of Corey Davis busting then they shouldn't have drafted him.
    1. There is no contract.
    2. Don't hire ****** plumbers.

Offset language is a cheap contract trick to get out of guaranteed money. I'm pro business, but contract tricks are bad business.

As a fan, I don't give a **** either way...but looking at it from a business standpoint I can certainly see why teams push for offset language.

From a players standpoint, you're biting the hand that feeds you by demanding they pay you even if you don't do your job. That's after they pay you several million for 3 years of work. BUT, I guess anyone is fine with making a few million for nothing.
