VY had an strong arm with a horrible accuracy. Couldnt read a defense to safe his life. He was at best a game managing QB if that..what has VY done to be given credit for all of the Titans success earlier in his career? Granted he was 26-13 as a starter, but this is not a result of him being the starter. This record is incredibly misleading as it is mostly due in part to the Titans strong defense and strong running game. In his rookie year, in which he went 8-5 as a starter, VY was supported by Albert Haynesworth and the 6th ranked defense and the 4th ranked rushing offense.

He completed only 51% of his passes while he threw 12 TDs, 13 INTs, and 3 fumbles which is very below average for a starting QB in the NFL. Even though he did rush for 7 TDs most of the runs were from within the 10 yard line and some critics can argue that due to his inaccurate arm, he was forced to run the ball when any other QB would have thrown the ball to their receiver. And despite his poor QB rating (since people always want to uss that as an 'go to stat' evaulating a QB. His turnover total, VY was given the Rookie of the Year award and a spot on the Pro Bowl team. VY statistically had one of the worst seasons of a starting QB in NFL history.

In his 2nd year, he was pretty much the same QB, threw only 9 TDs to 17 InT, he was downright pitiful and continued to make poor decisions. Despite us being a better team that year VY wasnt improving as an QB. The defensive turnaround is the main reason for the Titans success in the latter part of the 2009 season. And not to mention Chris Johnson became only the 6th player in NFL history to rush for over 2,000 yards in a season, I'm pretty sure that had more to do with the Titans’ success than VY. His career stat line is as follows: 57.6% completion percentage, 32 TDs, 39 Ints, 12 Rushing TDs, 8 Fumbles and he had never thrown for over 2600 yards in a season and he hasn’t averaged more than 170 passing yards per game in a season. I still don’t understand how this awful quarterback has been named to the Pro Bowl twice, it simply baffles me. The stats speak for themselves.

But. Perspective... he struggled all first half.

It was the defense that got it going with the turnovers. Then Henry.

I'd like to see him control a game out of the gate.

To me- right now, at least- Mariota is on that Andy Dalton type of level. Middle of the pack. And I could easily see him staying like that for his career. Wouldn't be the worst thing. It's hard to get decent/good QBs in the NFL. If you get a solid one... that alone might be enough. Joe Flacco types.

He could have a great game... he could have a terrible game... but you never really know what to expect. He looks very pedestrian so far this season. But yeah, that throw to Taylor was pretty.

I'm hoping for the best- but to me, it's a very cautious optimism. He's just missing some form of "it" factor at the moment. Seems to not put in much effort.

He went against one of the better secondarys in the league, he will continue to struggle this week too. He had a pretty good 2nd half last Sunday. The bar you guys are setting for a 23 year old QB is insane to say the least.

Yes, his stat line looked terrible, and he did benefit from Haynesworth and CJ. But the reality is that Fisher didn't know how to use VY. They ran CJ OFF GUARD, not tackle, but GUARD to get most of that 2K yards. If Fisher even looked around the league at that time he could have known to at least spread it out some. When you have Randy Moss on your squad and don't use him, that tells you how clueless Fisher was when it came to offense. VY was young and needed to develop, but that wasn't happening under Fisher. That , coupled with VY's immaturity, and you have one of the biggest flame outs in league history.

    Fair @ defense.

But acting like the bar we set is 'insane"... is... well, it's not.

People saying he's not even good at this point proves this to be incorrect. This entire thread actually proves this is incorrect.

Unless mariota throws for 250+ and 2-3 touchdowns people here say he's not doing enough. lol look around the league people. Imagine if mariota threw that ball to walker instead of him running it in... then mariota would have had a "good" game, for a relatively easy conversion. He gets no credit for his large third down conversions and driving the field... takes the fall for everything like not finishing a drive where our O-line pushed us out of scoring position multiple times. Use your brains people.

If he has a slow first half then he gets hit for not kick starting our team, if he has a weaker second half he's a poor finisher. look at aaron rodgers 3rd qtr stats from last year they were abysmal. These stupid criticisms are moronic a game is 4 quarters. If he has a better second half than first half this is pretty normal around the league for anyone who actually watches football other than the titans.

Issue is- he's super inconsistent and hasn't looked like the guy that's gonna change that and consistently be THE guy.

    So the criticism is valid.

Usually, it looks like he's gonna struggle to break 200 yds passing.

And I think a lot of it is due to the staff not trusting him to throw or call his own plays- so it's a lot of safe routes/passes.

For all these stats and research you just did, not sure how you missed in VY's 2nd year, CJ wasn't even on this team. Running game was a lot of Lendale White and sprinkled with a little bit of the GOAT 2nd round pick Chris Henry.

CJ's 2K season happened in his 4th year where VY came in after the team started 0-6 with Collins as the starter but somehow managed to finish 8-8.

I know you probably became a Titans fan in 2014, so I just wanted to clear up the misinformation.

Sorry you are actually right. I did mix up the years. But I am pretty sure we were a heavy effiecent running team and a very strong defense if my memory serves me right.

And since, you really want to know when I became a Titans fan, it was in 2002, when I moved from Portland, OR to Nashville, TN. But I think its cute that you assume I became a fan beacause of MM8.

Moss was on his last leg trying to collect his last check in the NFL. Way past his prime.
