Bring in anyone or draft anyone it doesn't matter. No QB will succeed in this exotic smash mouth trash. We don't have the right coaching staff for today's NFL. Offense inept, can't run the ball and passing game poor. Defense can't sustain an entire game. DLB defense is done, experiment 3 years past, its the same we give WRs 20 yard cushions and wonder why we can't stop even subpar QBs from getting career days vs us.

It's remarkable that Mularkey has done as well as he has with Mariflota trying to give games away.

Realistically, who is there to draft? I'm a giant Baker Mayfield hater, he's just like Manziel...Douche city.

"Sometimes Mariota looks like a pro_Other times he looks terrible"

How does that tell you that there "no question he's the guy"?

Mariota's best game was his very first start in the NFL as far as I'm concerned. He has played below average to average at best. I don't know about you but I'm not happy with average, and we don't have a championship defense that can make up for his mistakes.

If Mariotta doesn't run, he's a scrub. Now, the team can do one of two things:
    • Structure an offense that plays to his strengths (look at what he did in college and make that the base of his offense). This may necessitate letting Mularky and Robiskie go.
    • Trade Mariotta and start anew. This could put the team on another long road of losing and mediocrity, which I'm not sure at this point the fan base would support.
I think Mariotta could be serviceable in the right system, but he isn't the next coming of Brady, Rodgers or Brees by any stretch in any system. The best bet for this team is to find a smart, younger head coach with a dynamic offensive scheme that takes advantage of Mariotta's strengths. I just don't see this scheme and Mariotta co-existing on a winning NFL team.

Theres no question he gets more time.

How the hell are you going to say get rid of Mariota, then be in Shoutbox saying of we got Chip Kelly, we would be fine?

    1. If you're using last night as the example, then I suppose we have a lot more cleaning up to do. Henry/Murray don't do enough to win games. The pass rush doesn't do enough to win games. The OL only sometimes does enough to win games. The coach and his clown coordinators don't do enough to win games.
That's fine you want to pin it all on Mariota and he has played like garbage, but lets not forget that the dumpster fire he was thrown at is hardly been a perfected roster outside of Mariota.

    2. I suppose that would work since they have 2 firsts. I'm just thinking that if Tennessee sees him as not good enough to run the franchise, then why would other teams value him as if he was being that only "expected franchise QB" are picked in the first round?

In shoutbox, I said that if Mariota sticks around then we should hire Chip Kelly as OC since...

    1. Mariota is comfortable with him and has rapport

    2. They've obviously had success together, Chip knows how to play to his strengths

    3. Mariota plays best in a hurry up offense, Chips M.O

If we are not going to go all-in and game plan to his strengths then trade him while he still has value.

So which is it? Mariota can or can't be the guy?

There is no if. Mariota will be here next year. (again, as always, barring injuries)

I agree on all accounts except Henry, he doesn't get a chance to get in rythym with only 12 carries a game, yet he still averages like 4.6 YPC.

The roster is not perfect, no team has a perfect roster. But consistently missing wide open options is inexcusable. I have no patience for mediocrity, as much as I like the guy on a personal level.

What don't you understand? If we keep Mariota, Chip gives us the best chance at realizing his potential/ceiling whatever that may be.

If we're not going to completely tailor our offense to him, we need another QB. ****ing simple.
