I read that post. I get it except that this is the norm for Mularkey. Remember just a few weeks ago when everyone was complaining about these weird handoffs to DW? What about those stupid sideways runs that get pitched out, but it's run so that Mariota is never really in danger, but the play fails every time? Didn't he run a reverse with Taylor in the RZ earlier this year?

The norm is for him to call crazy-ass plays and often at inopportune times. He runs a lot of formations that are not normal, but they also have low success rates. The most successful plays we see are in more conventional formations.

I almost dread getting inside the 10, specifically on 2nd down, because that's when he calls some off the wall gimmick play that unless the defense is slow and totally caught off guard, they have zero chance of working.

Two 10-6 seasons prove otherwise. He had a 6-9 season which is unfortunate but not embarrassing and then helmed a terrible 49ers team who are still terrible.

That said, gassing the defense is a fair point. So whoever the HC is would need maintain a balance.

So your saying he was good enough to take a 10-6 team to 6-9 getting himself fired? (had a lot of playoff success against the good teams too)

But to also go back on some of this thread's earlier arguments about having a Defense. Here's Kelly's:

2013: 17 in Pts given up, 28 in yards (OFF was #4 in PF, 2 in yards)
2014: 22 in pts and 28 in yards (OFF was #3 in PF, 5 in yards)
2015: 28 in pts and 30 n yards (OFF was #13 in PF, 12 in yards)

So this proves that if his Offense isn't in the top 5, his team drops below .500.

He kills his own defense. Loved watching the Run & Shoot offense of the Oilers, but there's a reason it never resulted in any SB victories or even appearances. They are similar to Chip Kelly in the lack of D preventing them from winning.

This would be another decade long rebuild.
    1. Another QB search and trying to find the right guy. You know how hard it is to find a QB ( I believe MM8 is the right guy)
    2. We all said it and knew it, Mularkey brought in the wrong staff and system. THIS IS THE ANSWER - HE MUST GO

For all the Mariota haters, wouldn't you rather invest in the defense, then get a new QB to lead the team that won't have a marginal (or worse) defense?

Even if Mariota isn't the guy (or "franchise QB"), why not give a new QB an actual team to work with and not have to immediately rely on him to win every game for the team.

He's also got 10 days to heal. He better have his a$$ back out there to at least show a makeup game from this week.

Yes, MM8 had 2 ints going into the half but the crazy thing is we came out after half and he threw a bomb to Rishard for the TD and we were immediately back in the game with 14:40 left in the 3rd Quarter. Only down 3 pts.

Then the implosion of the Defense happened. The Steelers marched right down in their next possession and got back the 7 with no problem then every drive after we couldn't stop them from scoring. I say keep MM8 and build that D with a new DC.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't....

Conservative play calling leads the Titans to boring wins, sacrificing Mariflota's fantasy stats, people say the coaching staff is holding him back.

Open the playbook up and Mariflota sh1ts the bed with his consistent art of floating passes to the awaiting arms of DBs who have trouble catching as it is. Still blame the playcalling for not playing to Mariflota's strengths.

How do you cater to Mariflota? Besides a Chip Kelly offense? This isn't College Football, possessions are more valuable, we aren't winning 57-45 games or going 3OTs.

Mariflota needs a lot of work, and his penchant for slow/methodical starts hinders the success and gameplan of this team.
