    How are you ranking them?
By what stats or just by name?

2016 NE - #1 in points against, #8 in yards against #1 offense
2015 Den- We've discussed in full.
2014 NE - #8 PA, #13 YA (beat another top def #1 Sea)
    2013 SEA - #1 PA, #1 YA (beat the #1 offense)
2010 GB - #2 PA, #5 YA (beat another top def #1 Pit)
    2008 Pit - #1 PA, #1 YA
    2007 NYG - #17 PA, #7 YA

2009 NO was #2 in takeaways
2011 NYG was #5 in takeaways

SB winners not in the top 10 that year:
    2015 Manning
2013 Wilson (ranking criteria would need specified)
    2012 Flacco (beat Colin Kap)
20011 Eli Manning (ranking criteria would need to be specified)
    2008 Big Ben
    2007 Eli Manning

The other winners 2016 Brady, 2014 Brady, 2010 Rodgers, 2009 Brees and I'll agree that each of those years those QB's were top 10.

This doesn't make sense on "can't use".

What are you using to rank them "much superior" to Baltimore in 2012? Or even a "historic" defense? They ranked 4th in PA, 1st in YA and #8 in Takeaways.

I specified 2015 Broncos and 2012 Ravens as the good defenses that won without a top 10 QB. Glad I continued looking it up. Found a handful more years.

And how many sacks did those teams have?

So Wilson wasnt a top 10, when they won? He did have a great defense but the guy is a incredible QB, and should be on everyones top 10. Also, I am not sure why you ignored Big Bens stats when they won the SB? He threw for 4000 plus yards with 26-12 TD-Int ratio.

Anyways, Im not sure why “criteria” would have to be used on people like Wilson, Big Ben & Manning — three of those QBs were huge factors why they won, when you consider the performances they have put up in the SB game.

Edit: Im ranking them of being in better positions on offense to defenses like 2015 Broncos, or 00 Ravens.

Big Ben won in 2008, not 09'.
He threw for 3301. 17/15 and had a 80.1 rating. Not top 10

    2013 Wilson
    63.1% completion- 12th, 3357 yds- 16th, 26/9 TD/INT - 10th/14th, 101.2 rating -7th

So I specify that criteria matters because he's on that top 10 cusp. He ran for 539 but only 1 TD that year.

    2011 Eli Manning
    61% - 13th, 4933 - 4th, 29/16 - 6th/19th and a 92.9 rating - 7th
Another close to 10 but that 16 INT ranking him 19th in the league really makes it close.

    2007 Eli Manning
    56.1% for 3336 with a 23/20 and a rating of 73.9. Not top 10.

Every QB is a factor but a good SB performance doesn't make them a top 10 QB for the year. For example: Doug Williams in 87'. He was 0-2 as starter with 1156 and 11/5 season stats. Dude threw 5 TD in one qtr of the SB.

What rank was Seattle ranked in 2013 on offense? 26-9 for Wilson for wilson and ranked 12th in completion was a top 10 QB by many.

Like I said stats dont paint a full picture. But its crystal-clear that you need a top QB to be good in todays era, unless you got a defense as good as Denver had to overcome a garbage QB.

26th in passing yards, 4th in rushing yards.

Top QB helps, top 10 isn't necessary. Worthless turd will kill the team though (2015 broncos the only exception I can find).

Real key with QB play is actually lack of TO. Doesn't have to be a superstar yaradage or TD guy as long as he doesn't throw INT.

So by this logic Jaguars should be good enough to make it to the SB?

Certainly playing well enough to do it.

Key will be bortles not turning the ball over. He's thrown 7 INT in 10 games and the Jag offense is #8 in TO. He's also currently on a career low in sacks too. His numbers aren't blowing everyone off the page, but this is the #8 offense in points and #9 in yards.

Yes, if they continue, they are good enough to make the SB.

2000 Ravens....swarming D and a QB that was not great but kept the game in reach (Dilfer). Jags remind me of that recipe right now.

Mariota throws too much flat footed. Its like he is throwing with nothing but his arm and the balls are either sailing or coming up short. When he steps into it he makes some really nice throws. My personal opinion is we dont have a QB coach who is worth a dang and the HC is not willing to change things up at this point.

I also dont understand why we dont have MM8 rolling out on some 3rd down situations where we continually get blitzed and he ends up getting sacked. Squeelers were so predictable with that.

Guarantee you that Indy will be following the lead of others and will press out WRs and blitz like crazy...and we will watch a game slip away if we are not better than that.

Didnt Manning have like 17 Int in 2015? Thats how bad was their QB play was in Denver, still able to overcome awful QB play. Not ready to call the Jaguars elite yet.
